Van de Ven needs a couple of years with a top class coach. He should be far better than he is.

I'm cheering for the Axis Powers, so Japan for me as well. It's just a shame that Italy didn't qualify.

I remember a picture of you at that final in a green German away shirt. Although it could have been an Ireland shirt with a German badge stuck on.
It was an old school German shirt that I picked up at Guarulhos. I wore it to the 7-1 as well, but the Brazilians were pretty chilled about it.

Gary did very well in 2014 world cup Paul, including looking after me for two days and a night in Sao Paulo.

It was a pleasure. Just a shame that I didn't get to show you the sights of Rio.

Shame it’s not a countdown to the official kick off time. Every single game starting late so far

I enjoy watching Japan. They have a fluid style, and you get no cheating or histrionics from them. I fancy they could give any team a decent game at this tournament, but will come up short for want of a natural goal scorer.

Oh dear. I hope they don’t bring back to the UK.

Remind me again: why did we swap Malen for Abraham?

He’s bloody ace. Shame he didn’t want to hang around.
