I needed to be convinced but it might be too much now for Curaçao to come back from a 5 goal deficit

So that goal looked very much offside. And it would have taken the PL 5 minutes of drawing lines before making a decision. I liked the fact that it was essentially level and not deemed that a bollock hair being in an offside position to rule the goal out.

It looked like it was the defender's left foot that played him on, with only the attacker's arm nearer the goal.

This is what you would call a mismatch.

They might ease off at 7-1, like they did against Brasil.

The first game aside the games have been officiated really well. Barely a hint of VAR ruining the overall flow of the games. I’m sure the PL will learn nothing from this.

Expanding the competition so it is more representative of the world game is all well and good, but thrashings don't do smaller countries any good.

The PL would have called it off for the arm after a long delay.

They’ll learn to show the VAR bastards on TV pre-game.

Hungary beat El Salvador 10-1 in 1982, and Yugoslavia beat Zaire 9-0 in 1974 to name but two, when the World Cup had fewer teams.

Agreed, but my main issue with this World Cup is the lack of jeopardy in the group stages (and too many games). I felt 32 teams was an ideal size for the tournament.

Ask Curacao if they’d rather not be there. This is a dream come true for most of them, even with the pasting.
