Yeah, that's what I meant by fitness work, just seems an unusual choice to go for someone so weak. On top of that I think the game is a few days later than it should've been, I'm not sure about having a friendly less than 24 hours before the opening game. Of course it's still  a decent gap before our first game because of the sheer amount of groups.
