Yeah but there’s a difference between acceptance and not caring.

I think maybe it’s possible to accept that we might have to take money from sources that aren’t necessarily 100% ethical (eg nestle, Coca Cola) and also feel that we shouldn’t engage in sportswashing whatsoever.

I think there’s a lot of good points esp around the US.
Yet when a regime sends commandos overseas to assassinate, domestically kidnaps, tortures and murderers its own citizens, etc etc. (I could go on)
Where do you draw the line?
Ok I draw it a lot earlier than some - I did not like us having Under Armour due to their big game hunting range.

Tbh I got advised not to do public emergency fundraising for my friend a few years back for the safety of my own family, and even writing here I start to question the wisdom of it (I kept stuff to GM before for safety), which is exactly how this regime works. It’s well known (eg Channel 4 news stories) the diaspora including in the U.K. is terrified.

I submitted evidence to the solicitors taking the case against UK Govt with the bizarre sending folk there plan
Despite having had multiple death threats against him he decided he couldn’t not go public, ITN flew out and did a headline interview, though the news cycle shifted with the Queen dying, and unless we actually sent folk there I imagine they were reluctant to put him at more risk. So that never got broadcast but if ever anything happens to him it’s in the can. Possible BBC radio programme in the pipeline.

This was the only thing that came out at that point, via Freedon From Torture’s press guy.

When the documentary film finally gets edited there will be plenty more bad publicity and I don’t want Villa involved.

If as a Season Ticket holder you aren’t going to speak out when it’s a regime that’s kidnapped and tortured a close friend then when can you.

I was horrified https://www.gunnersforpeace.co.uk/ needed to exist for this sportswashing.
Telling as is Arsenal, PSG, Bayern and Athletic all benefitted, I’ll be heartbroken if the my own team takes blood money.

My take on it is there is at lest something in the pipeline and I hope it can be stopped.

I still can’t see anything aside from a second tweet with the sane pictures of the first.

I have emailed the Fan Advisory Board, though not sure what good that will do.

Perhaps this should be on it’s own thread?

Has anyone on this site visited Rwanda recently?

Surely if it is good enough for the team that our Prime Minister supports then it is good enough for us?

You're wasting your breath mate. Half of these moaning lefties have never even had a social better smack them in the face with a length of 4x2 with rusty nails in the end, and yet they all claim they wouldn't like it!

I don't think it's naive to want a club you support to be better, to set an example, maybe even try to lead by it. At least a bit.

And if we're not as successful as a result I'd happily live with that. Because the one think that would finish me as a supporter is not the club winning trophies, it's if it becomes something I no longer worry about and want to do well.
