Plenty of reasonably priced flights to Munich - trains from there are pretty regular and reasonable

The salzburg accomodation looks pretty pricy though

Very much torn between really wanting to go to this because watching Villa in a Super Cup may well not be a thing I have the opportunity to do again, and sacking it off because paying lots of money to watch Villa in a glorified friendly isn't very sensible.

Are the trains about 3 hours though or am I looking at the wrong ones?

Ones I saw were direct and about 90-105 minutes. It’s about 30-40mins into the Hbf from the Airport.

Yea I was looking from the airport. I’m going to stay there now as good price and get there fairly late from Brum!

Making a week of it as I’ve never been to Austria. Fly out to Innsbruck on the 8th then train to Salzburg on match day and staying until the 15th.

so I have flight sorted from brum to munich tuesday evening, then getting train to Salzburg wednesday morning.  Looking at hotel prices in Salzburg though they presumably have been inflated as more than I was hoping - especially near the stadium - any suggestions for anywhere a bit further out that wont cost too much to get back to after the game?  Theres a few more reasonably priced ones but your looking 6 miles or so from stadium.

I need to sit down tomorrow and have a proper search through but dont know where to start  :(

Hopefully it will be friendlier than our last Super Cup game.

Doing the same as you but land Monday evening then taking the train Tuesday.

The capsule hotel was reasonably priced. I used the one in Rotterdam so I don’t mind them.

The ground is about 5 miles out of the centre anyway although there’s free public transport for anybody staying at hotels.

I’m staying near the station. I suppose most of the drinking will be in the old town!
