Another great thing about this trophy, is that for years our players have walked down the tunnel past the trophies of other eras.

Now they can go into matches walking past one they have earned. If that doesn't give em a little boost each home game, I don't know what will!
Quite right too!

I want a picture taken of me with the trophy now to have as phone wallpaper. Wonder when the club will announce the photo-sessions?

Seen Tyrone ( online ) walking past saying something along the lines of, "c'mon get it up", pointing at the blank part of the wall waving his hand in a painter style.

And total, utter respect to the Freiburg supporters for their behaviour during and after the match.
Yes absolutely amazing fans. Very decent outside the ground in town and very respectful at the end. About 80% stayed back to see the trophy presented and a very large majority waited for a good 15 mins past that. I thought our team missed a trick by not going up towards them for appreciation like Olympiakos team did with us a couple of seasons ago.

Nice people indeed. I must say though, if I had a seat behind all those big flags I would be well pissed off. I wasn't though so no matter.

We had a drink and a Kebab at a bar round the corner from the Dubliner after the game. Two young Freiberg supporters sat on our table and  were very gracious in defeat . They really don't like Saltzberg. I told them I'm ashamed to admit it , but I wouldn't have stopped and watched the Trophy presentation if Villa lost . " No surely not" was the response. They were fantastic fans even crongratulating us in the airport Thursday morning. Will definitely keep an interest in them now.

I think that not staying around after you lose is a new thing. In 2000 most Villa stayed to watch Dennis Wise carry his baby up the steps. Maybe we dont have the attention spans anymore. Or we are all just a little less gracious. Either way, credit to Freiburg. They seem like a really nice club.

The first time I saw Villa at Wembley (other than the Makita tournament!) was the Coca Cola Cup final in 1994 and recall the Man Utd half of the ground was virtually empty when we lifted the trophy, not sure if was around that time when fans of the losing team disappeared quickly.

It was emptying fast in 2000. I think some remained through being devasted. I was slumped forward in my seat for a while but still left before they got the trophy. Fuck watching someone else lift it.
