Watching on the box, I thought the Freiburg fans were brilliant. Even 3-0 they kept up chants, carried on waving flags throughout and seemingly stayed after the end - despite being outplayed and outnumbered.
Not sure what those at the game thought.

I thought the same. Don't know if they were locked in but if not absolutely fair play to them.

After watching that doc that's been doing the rounds about them I thought if they were playing anyone else I'd desperately want them to win this.  Nice club and great fans, hopefully we can play a friendly against them someday if they're not suffering from Villa-induced PTSD or anything.

If we'd played a full strength side and tired players had picked up a few injuries here and there the outcome could have been massively different. Instead we came out with a virtually full strength side with the throttles wide open. We obliterated Forest, obliterated Liverpool and obliterated Freiburg in a major final. Emerys strategy over what was the crucible of our season was borderline genius and bravery in action. I've long believed that Ron Saunders was our greatest manager - certainly in my time - increasingly I am now not so sure.

And the best of it is, this isn’t the end, this is the beginning.

It's a discussion for another day as we still bask in the glory of last night, but it is a big question- will last night be the peak and as good as it gets or is it the start of something even more special?

As I say, not the time to ask that question now, but I think it is one that will need to be asked over the summer.

If Spam get relegated then it is their fault. The lost the last 2 games 6.1 and were abject for most of both against decent (no more) opposition.

And as much as I despise Spurs, I'm not going to shed any tears for Pornodwarf and his cronies.  Seeing their freebie stadium two-thirds empty against Lincoln will be some consolation.

Haven’t met one bad Freiburg supporter on the whole trip! Definitely a soft spot for them now! They stayed to watch our celebrations!

It’s an odd way to watch football though. Nothing on the pitch is linked to the atmosphere. They may as well enter a choir competition, or line dancing.

It was a great occasion but as a football match something of a non event as they had nothing much to offer. I’m most pleased for SJM, he’s the first Scottish cpt to lift a european trophy since Graham Souness. All his family were over. Istanbul Turkish people are very good people. They see Villa as one of the top teams in Europe. None of them new anything about a proposed Chimney Pot stadium in Birmingham.
