Thinking about it (from my own very blinkered view and experience), if we assume complete competence all round, then the only ones to benefit from sending a load of codes out late would be UEFA. It would have driven up demand for their more expensive tickets if a load of us thought that we were unsuccessful, with them knowing all of the more reasonable tickets would easily sell.

Is that more likely than either Villa or UEFA just messing it up? I don't know. The end result, regardless, is that the loyalty of fans is exploited for the profit of those in charge of the game. As sure as day following night, or home penalties at Old Trafford.

This is perhaps a poorly timed message, but my client who got us tickets does have a pair of Category 1 tickets for sale. For collection in Istanbul on the day. Price will be in the Ticombo kind of range, as a guide. DM me with any questions if you're interested and if he still has them, he'll let you know how it all works.

Yes, it was all the clubs fault. They deliberately sent out a message stating all tickets were gone when they knew they hadn't just to fuck over more fans.
I can see your sarcasm here, but they did say that all codes had been sent on Tuesday afternoon with a purchase deadline of Wednesday 5.00pm.

So either they hadn't sent all codes or for some reason decided to randomly send an extra codes without communicating that.

So yeah, I do think it was all the club's fault.

Oh, it was sarcasm? I was nodding along in agreement.

AVFC support tweeted that ALL category 3 codes had been sent on Tuesday lunchtime so it's quite clear,  that's how everyone took it, and plenty subsequently missed out.

Perhaps it was UEFA but either way it's really shit.

In the end did everybody in the ballot receive a code? There don’t seem to many saying they didn’t. It’s only been announced this morning we sold out so it looks like a fair number in the ballot decided not to purchase tickets.

It was saying sold out when I looked yesterday at about 17.30 - which was, admittedly, after the window had closed. For a second, one category 2 ticket became available, but quickly disappeared. My gut tells me they released more codes than they had tickets, because I know a few people that had a code but didn't buy one, because they (thought they) had to source one elsewhere.

It certainly feels like someone messed up somewhere along the line, but I doubt we'll ever learn who, when or why.

We were always going to sell out our allocation, and then some. And I can't shake the feeling that this has been used against us.

The clubs are at the mercy of whatever UEFA tells them to do. All 3 English clubs have smaller allocations than they have ST holders. The way we've allocated is probably the fairest of the three.

My code never come through till 3.20pm Wednesday, which I didn't expect and when I noticed at nearly 5 it was too late, wasn't particularly bothered about getting one myself but wanted it for my lad who informed me today he got one from the UEFA site at £500

Has the club released any official fan guide yet, they normally only send it to people with tickets through the Club, so plenty of us won't see this unless someone shares it

The conspiracy theories in me wonders whether this is another attempt to make season tickets less attractive.

By default maybe.

The main purpose is to increase cup sales (which has been a problem) and memberships (extra income).

Everybody should be v clear from now on how these big game tickets will be allocated.

They can quite easily reduce season tickets if they wanted to through natural wastage.

The overnight trip's gone but there's still a straight there and back plane.
What's the details of that, please Dave, as I don't think my elder son and DIL are sorted on flights yet?
