Ridiculous venue for a European final anyway.
What was our allocation? 11,000?

I think so.  Begs the question why they're playing it at the 4th largest stadium in Istanbul.
Oh and a mention in dispatches to those who got an opportunity of a lifetime, won the ballot and made a vast profit on selling tickets on.
Not that important a game was it?

CL final is held at a ground with a 67k capacity and both clubs get fewer than 17k tickets. The biggest issue is half the capacity going to other avenues which are the tickets hitting resale.

Once again UEFA and their mates with both trotters in the trough.

They know what they're doing, and they know where most tickets will end up.

It’s UEFA and touts.

If you won a ballot (single ticket) then you can’t transfer this to someone else. So by default those selling have more than one ticket on their account.

If as a fan, you win the ballot with Villa. You will only be able to sell it back to UEFA at cost price, minus a fee no doubt (as you can’t transfer). UEFA then list it on their resale site for an inflated price, where they are immediately snapped up by resellers “bots”. These are the tickets you are seeing on Ticombo etc….

The only profit is made by UEFA and the touts.

Although with the increase in tickets hitting the resellers the last few days, I expect some are from Villa fans as well.

I’ve been trying the UEFA resale site, as tickets are popping up occasionally. I’m pretty quick, but they are being sold in milliseconds. Humans don’t stand a chance

Without wishing to prolong this further I think we can safely assume with what happened at the FA Cup semi last year and now the EL Final this year, for these “showpiece” Neutral venue matches where there are limited tickets the club are prioritising ticket access to those who’ve attended games rather than your “status” and being an ST over a member doesn’t matter, though you obviously need to be either an STH or a Member.

We can debate until the cows come home whether that’s right or not but that seems to be the rationale. I personally disagree as it should be STH priority over Members imv but the bit that annoys the most is the fact the club haven’t explicitly said this is how they’re going to be doing this moving forwards and to me that’s not fair on STHs who should have been told.

It seems to me they want people guessing so we're all too scared to not buy as many tickets as possible !

It wouldn't be hard to publish pre season what the priority would be for each tournament, but the cynic in me thinks they're worried people would just work out the best way to get to a final with the least games attended and they don't want that.

Is the ground much smaller than recent Europa finals? Didn't Lansdowne Road in Dublin host it recently, that's not much bigger.

Ticket demand will always outstrip Allocation & the club will never get it right.
The criteria for this final was pretty much as good as they could do , the most loyal this season got their tickets first as it should be. The rest entered a ballot & were just randomly selected.
Can't see the issue myself

In all my 17 years as a season ticket holder, I've known and accepted that if I miss cup games I increase the risk of not getting to a final (or a Wembley semi) if we get there. Most years it hasn't been an issue!

I get how people are pissed off at missing out. Me and my mate couldn't do the Hibs game due to an annoying, unshiftable work commitment. And we've then struggled to get european away tickets, despite a near perfect home and away record for over a decade. That's frustrating.

But then, there are plenty of people whose season ticket length of service pisses all over mine, but I get to go to away games that they maybe don't.

There should be mechanisms that reward loyalty, but there should also be mechanisms that allow new and younger support to get the opportunity to experience what we do. We can't always have the same group of people going till we drop dead, just because we've always gone.

New fans need to be able to come in and start showing loyalty, because they'll be the ones keeping the club going next time we are on our arse and us lot are in retirement homes. Parents need to be able to raise their kids the right way, so we have future generations of match-going supporters to pass it on.

There should definitely be a bigger allocation to the clubs in a final, and there should definitely be more aggressive clampdowns on those reselling their tickets at inflated prices, or buying tickets just to sell on.

But aside from that, we're talking about a large historic fanbase and a limited quantity of tickets. Whichever way that gets divided, lots of people are going to pissed off.

I do get the younger fans argument, but there's people who've had season tickets for thirty years and never seen us win anything, on current trajectory they may well be 80 or above next time we get to a european final 🤣

You can see why they'd be gutted.

Absolutely, and if it weren't for the luck of the draw, I'd be gutted too!

This is from the renewal page at the start of the season. The club if being pedantic , could say it doesn't state cup finals, but most ST holders would have taken that blurb as priority over other criteria.

I would also raise re. the younger fans point and same old faces argument - that pretty much describes the away scheme now. Would be nice if something was done to help people get away tickets more easily. Especially considering it gives you such priority for finals.

I agree, especially as I suspect a lot of people are passing on those tickets, judging by the faces at the matches.

But typically, only the away cup matches give you priority for the finals, and usually that's a small portion of fans. I reckon this time round, it would have been around 2k fans who were guaranteed a ticket based on the away allocations for the games this year.
