Some interesting thoughts from our old CEO here:

A brilliant discussion, thanks for posting.
A couple of points….

1. If we are in for Jackson, surely it has to be a loan because of the 45 day rule. But, won’t 2 loans really would ring the alarm bells at UEFA ?
2. So nice to listen to a man who knows what he is talking about and is not blubbering along like the human jelly (Wyness) about stuff he clearly knows fuck all about.

But as cd said, you can't have two loans from the same Premier League club, can you?

My biggest concern would be that there would be too much change in one fell swoop

A lot of new players to learn our way and our disciplines.

We are crashing the party at present, even with all the obstacles being thrown at us to not stay there. It only needs one transitional season to fall lower than Europa league and our stars of the future will be picked off and we will wither away and with it Emery and co.

Big gamble to even consider Emi, Konsa or certainly Watkins

I hope we know what we are doing

Interesting post  - thanks
Not sure that CP is correct on the P&L issue
Surely if we had bought Garnacho outright for £40m with a 5 year contract only £8m would have to be written off in the current year’s P&L not the full £40m as CP was implying

I just don’t see how we get Jackson and navigate the rules.

By selling Watkins.

I’d say that’s a sensible view, if so. Edit - reply to PWS.
This is no place for sensible views. We need drama with rage and awe driven by speculation and wild baseless rumours.

Quite right, sorry. I hate those pigs at the Northants Telegraph. Always talking shit about us.

I doubt money is the biggest concern. Can't loan 2 players from the same PL club and can't buy him outright whilst still within the UEFA review period for swap deals.

We’d still fall foul of the 45 day rule though wouldn’t we?

I don't know, but I'd imagine there'd be some wriggle room if we could point to a direct link between (say) selling Watkins and then using that money to fund buying Jackson.

Exactly. How could UEFA legitimately say that we had swapped the players if we could point to selling Ollie after the Rogers sale, and then bought Jackson separately with that money.

I’m enjoying another episode now entitled Why are championship clubs in financial freefall?

Yeah you'd miss him a bit until remembering he's a Tory donor.
