What is slbsn?

Used to be a boxer from Leicester.  Quite good but think he lost to Hagler.

@slbsn

🤓 The Newcastle settlement agreement with UEFA was published yesterday which also confirms the version that Villa must be complying with (amazingly UEFA published the wrong version originally). Villa are effectively complying with the same as Newcastle but -1 on the periods.

It appears that Villa and, therefore, other clubs have more leeway than on the face of the settlement agreement (perhaps extra allowances/side agreements) because if not they’d have breached to 30 June 2026.

The Villa settlement agreement states their cap was €60m over FY25 and FY26 which they did not hit without additional allowances/compromises with UEFA. Once the warehouse and Women’s team are excluded (FY25) Villa lost over €100m for UEFA across the two years even after their substantial permitted add backs.

Therefore, caution should be applied in proclaiming teams will fail UEFA settlement agreements. We’ve also seen with Marseille that UEFA are reluctant to go through with a ban, giving teams additional years and conditions to comply.

I think it is now clear that Villa will sell Rogers before the end of FY2027 (this Summer or at the end of the season) - without it they could not justify this Summer’s spending. I don’t think it is as clear on Guimarães.

So Rogers is leaving because we need to sell a player before the end of next season?

Obviously it's a Stefan Borson, I thought the L would of gave that away.

I don’t think it’s clear at all despite what this bloke says. We haven’t even reached the end of UEFAs FY26 reporting period yet that’s not until December and we’re due two very large CL payments in that period so quite frankly he’s guessing. File under unsubstantiated bullshit imv.

Selling Rogers for £130m and buying MGW for £70m would leave us £21m after paying off Boro. I'm not sure what winger we'd get for that price and that's without addressing a couple of new full backs.

20% of the profit (£115m) is £23m. £130m - £23m = £107m - £70m = £37m profit.

Sorry, I'm on holiday and just having my first coffee. I'd calculated at 30% and ignored the profit. Cheers, Percy.

"Aston Villa have reached a ‘full agreement’ for a multi-year contract worth €3m net per year plus bonuses."

I assume we have first option to buy him back and/or a very healthy sell-on clause.

Bowen has signed a new contract at West Ham so we can probably scratch him off any wishlist.

Given he's gone to another V Sports team, I'm assuming there's some sort of shenanigans going on.

Indeed - I like him as a player but not one that would fit in currently with our play or financial modelling.

If that's right we'd be saving £5m a year on wages between Digne and him.

I suspect we'll have a similar saving in the Tielemans <> Gomes situation and we've already dropped some big wages for Dougie, Sancho and Elliott. All In I reckon Those swaps and the end of the loans will have freed up £30m in the accounts. We already got ~£3m from the Malen <> Abraham swap as well (which matters for SCR as it's on calendar year) so there's plenty of headroom in for SCR. Manzambi will be about £15m on the books so we're going to have about the same again free. The cover player for Onana will largely be paid by FIFA compensation so that won't have an impact which means a RB on a 5year deal in the region of £75k p/w and a £15-20m fee would still see us reducing our overall costs and for the arrangement with Fifa the drop of £12m a year of the Onana fee opens up a lot of options, especially if we can cover him with someone on a lower wage.

TL;DR version.

If all the current incomings and outgoings happen as expected we'll have the money for a DM on loan and decent young RB without needing any further sales.
