If Manzambi, Gomes and Paulinha are all coming in, does that we we are about to sell a high profile player?

We already have. And have Onana out all season.

We've already dumped a lot off the wage bill so i'm not convinced we have to sell. Doesn't mean we won't if the right offer comes in but i'm not overly worried we have to shift someone.

So is he a Youri type or an Onana type?
Onana type.  He's not known for his passing.

edit - re Gomes, but applies to Paulinha too.
Gomes plays more Tielemans than Onana.

As someone pointed out previously, we've sold the best part of £50m and reduced the wage bill by £1m per week since the end of the season.  Surely that gives us some room to trade.

Still got Bailey and Guessand to move on as well...

Given what we all thought we needed this window I’m pretty surprised our first three signings are likely all central midfielders!!

You'd imagine this was a back up plan we wished we didn't have to implement.

Isnt the UEFA thing a net positive transfer balance?

I nicked this from a post on Twitter:

Looking at his ball winning ability, he was second in ground duels won last season with 199 (6.31 per 90).

He ranked in the 93rd percentile for possessions won, the 68th percentile for duels won and made 194 loose ball recoveries.

In total he had 388 defensive contributions.

The caveat here is he was in a team doing a lot of defending.

he’s good at keeping the ball moving, with 1311 attempted passes (41.6 passes per 90) on 87%

Additionally he’s actually surprisingly press resistant, as his passing grade under pressure is really high.

But the negatives far outweigh the positives.

Joao Gomes cannot progress the ball at a high level, he ranked in the 55th percentile for forward passes, 63rd percentile for accuracy on those.

With just 3.2 progressive passes per 90, he’s in the 44th percentile for that too.

Again, with the caveat he was playing in a very poor team.

With that said, I think he's a good player and a very good signing - I'm pretty excited to see him.  I'm just not sure he'll replace Tielmans passing, although he may well be better at carrying the ball.  In that respect, I think Dave's comment re Gallagher may be spot on.

£90m spent which still makes me think the Rogers sale will be the one that balances it all out.

I think so, but I’m hoping it’s a positive squad cost thing with wages as well, and that Onana’s wages and amortisation costs are excluded. It’s the only way I see us keeping Rogers - not that I’m in any way sure of the numbers and equations at all, or privy to the right info.

Well, we can pick and choose who gets in the UEFA squad list. And as the UEFA reporting period is January to December, we can in theory leave someone out for the group stage, knowing we can pop them in come January for the harder fixtures.

Are we not close to breakeven with Digne, Youri, Malen, Enzo, Dobbin etc…..

Except it isn't £90m spent at all. If we did spend £90m, it would only be £9m actually being spent in the accounts between now and the end of the UEFA reporting period in December.

I'm pretty sure we've got £9m in the kitty.
