If he'd set out to injured him I'd understand, but it was just a foul, with an unexpected outcome.

Fenerbahçe have reached an agreement with Ollie Watkins over a move this summer.

The Turkish club have agreed a three-year contract with the Aston Villa striker.

Fenerbahçe are now in talks with Villa over a transfer fee, with the Premier League side seeking €35M and the Turkish giants hoping to complete a deal for around €25M.

That would be a breach of contract.

That would be a breach of contract.

Why would it? If the club gave permission to talk to him where's the breach?

From the same source:

Fenerbahçe have reached an agreement with Aston Villa's English star on a three-year contract worth 9 million Euros in salary. The management is now trying to finalize transfer fee negotiations with the English club.

Fenerbahçe, continuing its efforts to strengthen its attacking line before the new season, has taken a significant step in its search for a striker. Following Vedat Muriqi's injury, the Yellow-Blues have accelerated their efforts and reached an agreement with Ollie Watkins, known as Aston Villa's goal machine. It has been learned that the management has agreed on a 3-year contract with the 30-year-old English striker. According to the agreement, Watkins will earn 9 million Euros annually from Fenerbahçe, and the experienced player has accepted all the terms offered by the club. Now, attention in Fenerbahçe is focused on the transfer fee negotiations with the English team.

25 MILLION EURO OFFERED
While official contacts began last week for Watkins, who has a contract until 2028, it was stated that Aston Villa opened negotiations at 35 million Euros. The Yellow-Blue management, however, aims to complete the transfer for approximately 25 million Euros. Negotiations between the parties are expected to intensify in the coming days.

I'm not sure how much Watkins is on, but I imagine it's up there at the top around the £150k pw mark, which is what 9m EUR is roughly.

Why would he swap a 2 year deal here in the Premier League, for a 3 year deal over there on the same money?

That's €9m a year over three years with a fixed tax rate of 20%. That's €21.6m in Watkins bank account after tax in 3 years.

The net contract for a footballer in Turkey is very different to the net contract for a footballer more or less anywhere - big names at big clubs pay hardly any tax, so £150k per week over there is is probably worth a few million more per year than £150k per week here.

Not that I think we'll be selling him to Fenerbahce.

Not even close to the same money, he's been offered €138,461 a week AFTER tax.

A weekly wage of one hundred and fifty thousand of your Great British Pounds would see him paying 45% tax (plus NI). That's £82,500 a week before NI.

Mateo Kovacic might be an experienced cover for Onana and possibly wouldn’t cost the earth.
