The transfer fees this summer seem even more bonkers than usual, strikes me, keeping the squad together might be the best thing we can do.

Not sure if it’s been posted but Barrenechea has been sold today. Maybe the date suited one of the clubs, or both, because he met the terms of the obligation months ago.

Portuguese transfer window opened today.

There you go then. He hit the terms before Jan though.

Hitting the terms just means they were contracted to buy him at the end of the loan window, same with us and Elliott. However UEFA decide the full value hits for calculating their finances when terms are met, not when the money changes hands officially.

I could still be wrong, but the UEFA thing was reported in the Athletic about 2 weeks before Elliot was suddenly dropped. But we still weren't expecting to actually pay the money until the following summer which was in the contract. (Of course the player could transfer during the winter window to free up a loan spot if required).

Ah yes, I remember something like that. It’s almost like you have to take notes as these bits and pieces emerge, if you want to keep track.

At least Youri has added £20m to his value if we need a headline sale.

That'll offset the £20m of Konsa's value if you believe some of the appalling punditry last night.  Gary Neville for once spoke some sense.

Silly season has now officially kicked off..

'Fenerbahce are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa on loan, potentially with a purchase option.'

Think we got him from Coventry a few years back and he was highly rated but since then we've had a few other CBs sign or come through which has pushed him down the list. From the bits I've seen he looks ok though but probably won't be someone that comes into your team from day 1. Good luck to him (and you).
