Would Bowen improve us on the right compared to the likes of Bailey and Guessand? Absolutely yes.

Could we get better value elsewhere in the transfer market? Possibly, and very much depends on the deal and his wages.

The major plus for me is that Bowen would undoubtedly contribute towards goals (and assists) from other areas, which is something we’ve been lacking.

If Bowen's in our side for the Brighton game, I certainly won't be unhappy. It'll probably be a fun signing.

As long as people are alright with the down-side,  i.e the hand-wringing on here in 2029 when we're bemoaning our aging squad on big wages that we can't get rid of.

It's not just his age profile, it's his, y'know, profile.

He's not that ugly, side-on.

Seems a good egg.

In April 2026, Bowen agreed to help pay for pitch repairs at Hereford, the phoenix club of his first professional club, Hereford United, where his uncle Ben is groundsman.

Oh.

He is also a supporter of the NFL team the New England Patriots.

It feels like the next season is always the most important.  But to have any chance of breaking the Big 6 financial stranglehold, we really need to qualify for the CL a few years running.  Bowen's goals and assists could be huge in the here and now, which seems to be Emery's main priority.

Notwithstanding his age, it's a transfer that makes an awful lot of sense.

There are names that sound more exciting, but he'd hit the ground running and significantly improve our squad.

Something called 'Hammers News' has moved to poor icy water on suggestions that Jazza Bozza, as he's quickly come to be known, joining Villa this summer;

Quote
“The club very much hope and believe Jarrod will stay and help get us back up to the Premier League,” the top spokesman inside West Ham told Hammers News.

“Nothing has changed on that since he spoke to Mr Kretinsky and Nuno Espirito Santo last.

“The board are realistic and realise some clubs may make bids for a player of Jarrod’s quality. But we are under no pressure to sell for financial reasons and believe Jarrod is open to staying too.”

It's funny, because everything I've heard suggests that West Ham are up shit creek without a paddle and will need to cash in on players.

On Bowen

good character
Isn’t injury prone
Mach winner
Proven
100% effort
Team player
Causes trouble in the opposition box

The "Isn't injury prone" bit might change if he ends up at VP. It often does. Otherwise, what's not to like.

It’s a yes from me

age profile and high costs are the only negatives

Listened to a podcast last week that suggested WHam could be losing £500k a day following relegation.  It was £250k a day in 24/25 and they've lost £100m of PL/TV money since.

That suggests there is a reason to sell, or even better, loan him to us.  Selling Fernandez and Summerville can pay the debt collector, a loan will help reduce the running costs until they're back in the PL.

Yes that day of reckoning will be upon us.
I think that Emery might see this season as the big chance to do something big and why a player like Bowen would fit that push.

If there's any truth in it I think it's a silly transfer. The only positive when getting Gregory/MON flashbacks is that their signings might not have been so damaging if we'd actually achieved CL.

I wonder some other Middle-Eastern/Yank conglomeration will buy them. Afterall the 60k stadium is already built and pretty much free for 100 years and they are London based, although I suspect the surrounding areas are already cashed out for any speculation options. And I suspect the owner needs to cash out whilst he is still free and wandering about.
