Mavropanos has kept them in the game.

Best display in ages.  They’re lucky to not be 4 down.  I hope we don’t regret missing some of these chances.

What’s the consensus on the penalty? In the ground looked like Watkins was fouled outside the box and then ran inside

He should have went down like a sack of spuds and their best defender gets a red. Playing on was brainless activity.

Similar to Wan-Bissaka on Rogers.

Aston Villa had 14 shots in the first half, their most in the opening 45 minutes of any Premier League game since October 2023 vs Luton (also 14).

No argument that it wasn't a penalty but surely the ref could take it back and award Villa a free kick outside their area.  The decision to just give them a drop ball ignores that he was only able to make the fair tackle because he had been allowed to twice pull Watkins back.

Not a pen but should have had a free kick.

We should be scoring from the break anyway. That ball breaks near the penalty shot. Sancho bottles taking the shot and Rogers can't get the ball out of his feet at the moment. Great play from Ollie to roll the defender like that. Ollie has done everything but score so far.

We did however go on to have a chance where we should score, so I don't really have an issue with not having the free kick, we had a better opportunity than the free kick would have given.

Ollie was great. Looking much more like his old self, especially physically.

Ollie's in the mood again.

Tactics are perfectly set up for him plus West Ham's three at the back just gives us acres of space. Watkins, Rogers and Sancho need to start being clinical as the clear cut chances are being wasted time and time again.

But then I'm glad we don't, habitually, play like that. We don't go looking for free kicks and penalties. If we go down it's because we're forced down. And that's the right way to play the game

Did Igor Jesus do the Street Fighter Hadoken as his celebration? That is gets 10/10 if it is. Pure nostalgia.
