My take on tonight. Hemmings isn’t ready yet: Bogarde isn’t a full back but has the makings of a decent midfielder: we have some potential in the youth in JJA and Kaden Young: as sloppy as we can make ourselves we can up the anti to achieve the required result when needed: Absolute balls up for their first goal.

Matty Cash fast becoming our POTS!

He was the difference when he came on. Superb

He couldn't be a worse POTUS than the current incumbent too.

First game for a while, and thought I'd dropped a ball when the 2nd went in. Great last half hour though seeing the young lads really enjoying it.
Bogarde is a great asset, thought he did OK at full back, but was great in the middle.
Hemmings was dispossessed early on and lost his mojo a bit. Give him time.
Elliot did well having not played for yonks.
JJA looks like a player....
Young on the right looked great, much better than Sancho. Great feet, and will take the full back on and commit him. Really impressed.
Cash playing Hollywood passes across the park was superb.
Obviously a downer with Watkins injury, and is Bizot also injured?

Bogarde in CM and Cash at RB changed it.

Hope Watkins isn’t too bad, good job we’ve already got Tammy in.

Did Lindelof go into midfield when Konsa came on for Onana ?

.yes he did, and Bogarde was beginning to boss the middle at that stage.

They can have an off day but you can never write this team off, the mental toughness to keep finding a way to win is so impressive. Such a feel good ending too - great to see all the senior players look so genuinely pleased for him.

Credit where it's due, First half Salzburg got their tactics spot on, filling central midfield and forcing us to go wide where we offered little threat, pretty much what we did to Newcastle. Neither Watkins or Buendia could get in the game. The fact they did it with a bunch of kids, apart from the keeper the average age was 21, eldest 24, youngest 18 is to be commended.

Three great Villa goals, a couple of very tidy one-twos between Rogers and Buendia for the first; one from a cross, yes a cross from Matty Cash for Mings to bury and another great bit of play leading to Young supplying the perfect ball for Jamal to show off his coolness and technique.

Final observation, I thought the fans were brilliant tonight especially when 2 down and the lads needed them most. We're going to need them in full voice at Villa Park more than ever starting on Sunday against Brentford.

A "meh" game on approach with only a small reward for prevailing. A rag bag team throwing up a rag bag performance on a cold damp night.

But then we have Emery, the ability to turn such a game around and get the whole place smiling on the way out.

As I said to Dorsetvillan as we left "this bloke can turn shit into gold"

Have only just thawed out, jeez VP was freezeing last night.

First half was awful, I don’t know if we underestimated them. As others have said, taking Hemmings off for Cash then moving Bogarde into midfield changed the game, and Young and Jimoh Alobah looked lively.

Can see why Elliot doesn’t get a game - I get that he’s probably not match fit but he plays like Bad Buendia (minus the tantrums).

I agree with all of this. Had a real feel good factor at the end with JJ getting the winner.
On Sunday, I think it will be bouncing from the start because of the return of Tammy and Dougie, Brentford are a decent side, so will need an early goal to carry on the momentum. .

First game I've been to this season. Brilliant last half hour and lovely to see the youngsters have pivotal roles.

Did you have CD in your ear for 60 mins blaming it all on you for coming?
