I can't stand it when Ollie has to think. He doesn't have a footballing brain. He's best at reacting, instant shot or header.

The Newcastle crowd sounds like it's going through perimenopause.
I had to look up perimenopause, I am sadly not very well educated.

I assumed you were a married man of a certain vintage, friend. You have been very lucky.
Mate I have been through that furnace next to me and have come out through the other end. It’s just that I thought it was pre not peri but every day is ….as they say.

Ffs Watkins
You had to kick the ball to our player who was a yard away from you

Great half from us that.

Retaining my pessimism for the second, though.

Mostly positive. Watkins enjoying a game of pinball by the looks of it

Sancho has has a good half - lots of hustle and helping out in defence. His run from waaaaay back to give Watkins the option in that counter-attack was wasted by the pass.

Unusually for our trips there, we're giving as good as we're getting. Started to tire though, and will probably need to freshen up to keep it up as the second half goes on.

Excellent first half though.
Many good performances. Onana, big Emi and Torres in particular.

Ollie has had so much involvement in the game, far more than recently, but fuck me, he makes some absolutely atrocious decisions.

Ollie Watkins needs to do something of note today. He’s got into great positions which is a talent in itself but so wasteful. Tammy Abraham will take his spot if he’s not careful.

Newcastle 0-1 Aston Villa
An end-to-end first half comes to an end with Emiliano Martinez making a routine save from Yoane Wissa

Yeah frustrating, he’s doing lots well but that final touch/pass has not been good.

We need at least one more here. It was very open in last ten mins and I worry about crosses to far post, they’re winning a lot of headers.

Emi M superb and that goal from Emi B was outstanding.

Yep played well that half.  Ollie's blown so many opportunities though.
