Ings left a day before we played Saints as we pushed for Europe.

But we don't know that it is a stupid decision yet. Right now, at most, it's a risky call, win today and pick up a replacement in the next few days and letting Malen go is fine.

No, a stupid risk is a stupid risk. If you decide to jump into the lions' enclosure at the local zoo, it's still a really bad fucking idea, even if you ultimately emerge unscathed.

On the face of it, it is a weird decision.  But you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes.

Look at the Newcastle bench in comparison today. Chalk and cheese.

Still couldn't beat a bunch of neutered wolves.

That was stupid, too, then.

It would have been nice to at least have seen a young striker on the bench ...

So whoever made it is a moron, which would most likely be Unai.

Alex Ferguson sold Paul McGrath. Clever people do stupid things, sometimes.

Emery took a lot of grief on here when he let Danny Ings go without a replacement. Watkins hat trick incoming today!

That bench looks very week. Letting Malen go before we had a replacement is stupid.

or even this game .

Transfers don't always happen when fans want but Malen wanted to go, we wanted him to go, so he went. Does anyone think Unai wasn't ok with him going? His comments suggest he was more than fine with it.

Still doesn’t mean that it isn’t particularly good timing in the context of this game. It is absolutely quite a big risk - it might not crystallise, hopefully it won’t - but we have very little available if we need to change the game.
