I know we signed him a couple of weeks before Tammy, but when did we find out about the registration issues? Wonder if we would have avoided signing Tammy if he was eligible.

Will be interesting to see if Unai trusts Madjo and puts him straight into the 25 or will he be sent out to a decent Championship club for half a season to get him properly fit and firing.  I guess it depends if we are selling Watkins or Tammy.  Do we keep him as he's likely to learn as much from sticking around, or loan him out to see what he's got?  Scored some nice goals already.

It's already been reported that he was bought for the first team, and Emery was frustrated he couldn't use him last season.

I think with the financial restrictions we are up against, even we are not going to willingly spend £10m on a player we don't intend to play.

Illing-Junior, Dobbin, Nedeljkovic, Barrenchea, Ozcan - all players bought for similar money without necessarily being considered "first team" squad members when they arrived. 

I genuinely think Madjo was bought as one for the future, but bought while so young because he was already playing first-team football, and he could be out of our price range by 19 if he carries on performing in first-team football.

I hope he stays on our books, and is given similar game time to Duran when he was breaking into the side, but given he's not even 18 until January, I wouldn't be averse to him getting a loan for regular football, in the English game.  I'd bet the Championship is a slightly better standard than anything he's regularly played so far.  He only has a handful of appearances for Metz in Ligue 1.  To expect him to play anything other than a peripheral part in a team at the top end of the most competitive league in the world, is probably asking too much.

I'll be DELIGHTED to be proven wrong, and see him regularly contributing in the first team, but I'm not going to get carried away by him playing regularly in pre-season when our first choice is still on holiday and our second choice is recovering from a shoulder op.

Illing-Juinior, Dobbin, and Barrenechea were all bought for PSR reasons in deals with other clubs. None of these have ever looked like they were bought because Emery wanted them for the first team. Ozcan was bought cheaply and never been close to the first team.

Nedeljkovic was also bought cheaply and played in his first season as cover for Cash. He was a gamble, it became clear he wasn't ready yet, and so has been sent off on loan and made available for sale.

So none of these are comparable to Madjo.

Agreed. In all likelihood this kid is playing for England. Probably quite a lot. We're not talking Dobbin here. He's quite clearly a serious talent and I wouldn't waste a single minute with him out on loan. Get him playing because he's already good enough.

I mean you could be right but he’s scored a couple of goals against Walsall in a pre season friendly, we don’t really know if he’s good enough yet, so to suggest he’s going to be our answer to R9 is a bit fanciful at this stage.

Harry Kane had four loan spells. If that's what the club think is best for his development, then it's fine by me.

Yeah I don’t want to get carried away but he’s definitely going to be one of the best strikers in the world in a few years time!

In all seriousness he looks a good prospect but that’s all he’s is at the moment, his size and strength is impressive but he’ll come up against better defenders and more organised defences than he’s faced so far.

It’s nice to have a young player to get excited about but I’ll reserve judgement for the time being.

You can tell when you have a standout kid on your hands. They do what he is doing right now. The opposition doesn't matter. How is he performing relative to his teammates? Looked our best player to me, barring maybe Buendia.

If they're good enough they go in at 16/17. He's good enough and he's going in, baby.

Footballer Guy Madjo jailed in absence for sex assault

A professional footballer has been jailed for three-and-a-half years in his absence for sexually assaulting a woman in his home.

Cameroonian striker Guy Madjo invited the 27-year-old to sleep on his sofa at his home in Grayshott, Hampshire, after she was locked out of her flat.

Winchester Crown Court heard she woke up to find him assaulting her.

The 31-year-old, who previously played for Tranmere Rovers and Aldershot, did not attend the trial.

A previous hearing was told he was in West Africa and had recently played for teams in Gabon.

A warrant for his arrest was issued in May but the trial went ahead when he failed to return to the UK.

Prosecutors said the victim had been drinking in her local pub and returned to her flat to find she had been locked out by her partner.

She got her hand stuck in the letterbox and called police for help, but while she was on the phone Madjo - who lived nearby - helped her remove her hand.

Rebecca Austin, prosecuting, said when the victim woke up to discover she was being assaulted, she immediately left the house.

Ms Austin said: "She left, walked away and called the police - she said she was being followed by him.

"She ran away from Mr Madjo, she fell and then she hid behind a car. She was found by a neighbour."

Mr Madjo has played for Tranmere Rovers, Aldershot, Bristol City, Forest Green Rovers, Stafford Rangers, Crawley Town and Shrewsbury Town.

He also played for Plymouth Argyle, Stevenage and Macclesfield Town, as well as the Cameroon under-23 national team.
