How were we doing at this stage 2 years ago? I'm worried my mid-term memory is shot to bits, I honestly can't remember if there was similar talk to now.
We had already shot our bolt.

The Sheffield United draw made us uneasy. The defeat at Old Trafford knocked the stuffing out of us. We brought kids on that night, as injuries piled up. And that was before the turn of the year. We were about to be turfed out of the cup by Chelsea, then embarrassed at home by the Jaudis. We spent the rest of the year with our foot on Spurs’ neck, trying to make sure they drowned.

Yeah it wasn't the same after that Sheff Utd game.  Won that and we'd have been top at Christmas.  We followed that up by blowing a 2 goal lead and losing at Old Trafford and didn't really get that momentum back.again although we dud end up finishing 4th.

In the words of local pop warbler Steve Winwood, "When you see a chance take it".

In the words of George Michael, 'You gotta have faith, faith, faith.'

In the words of the Jackson Sisters, "I believe in miracles".

“And then you find out life isn’t like that,
It’s so hard to comprehend,
Why you set up your dreams to have them smashed in the end”.

Only kidding.

If we continue in the same form we’ve been in since the end of September we’ll win the league.

Only 16 league games remaining after today which doesn’t feel like a lot. Unai will be taking it a game at a time for sure.

I just hope we can get one or two key new signings in this month.

Kamara being injured makes that unlikely I’d say.  But let’s stay in touch and see how Arsenal handle the pressure.

Win today puts us 4 points behind with 16 to go.
Over the last 10 games we have gained 4 more points than Arsenal & Man City.

So the same again and that would put us and Arsenal level on points with Man City trailing by six points with six games to play.

Simples. Would you bet against us ?  :)

On the basis of modern history, yes. But hopefully we’ll reverse that!

If it’s a shoot out between us and Arsenal, who would our last two opponents want to win it?

I guess it's a sign of progress that I'm looking at the last fixtures of our 'title rivals', but honestly, Arsenal's last four games are eminently winnable, and under normal circumstances you'd expect them to get 12 points from Fulham, West Ham, Burnley, and Palace - two if which might be down by then.  Having to beat Liverpool AND Man City in the last two games probably means we need to be 6 or 7 point clear going into May.  Challenge accepted!
