I think Onana might have said something bad about Michael D. Higgins or his lovely dog. All this hate has a whiff of Erse.

Once Luiz is up to speed, I'd have him in instead of Onana.

I don't think we'll be keeping him.

I hope we do. He seems a better, younger version of Barkley. Better looking too.

If we need the cash, I could see Onana sold, with Luiz, Bogarde and Hemmings as replacements. I can’t remember the reported fee for Luiz but it should generate £15m or so. Could be a europa v CL type sacrifice

I think keeping DL as the medium-term Barkley replacement is a great idea. What he gives, versus what he would cost makes it a no-brainer.

But the idea that he's a more important bit of our future than Onana is just the height of silliness.

Yeah, on form he's been superb and when he's not, he's been okay. Even against Leeds and Wolves he was taking the ball under pressure and moving it on, it has its risks.

Not at all. I bet Amadou would take to Irish dancing like a champ. Better use of his feet than in a Villa shirt.

Harry Wilson and Mason Mount linked by the bbc gossip page, the latter through the wondrous Football Insider, must be true then!

I've often thought Mount would be a player very well suited to an Emery system, and cheaper than Gibbs-White.

He's judged much more harshly than he should be, I think mainly because of his England selection in the times of St Jack.

I agree he'd fit well in an Emery system, but his injury record means you'd probably only get a dozen games a season out of him.

I think he’d be a good fit too but our medical staff are already overworked so I’m hoping it’s not a serious link.

Shame, because he is a very decent player.
