A most apposite/accurate comment posted on the Beeb match review :

"... any villa fan will tell you that if we are going to lose a game it’ll be the one everyone thinks you’re nailed on to win. Every time."

We've all seen them.

Shit happens, disappointing but it’s unlikely to hinder us progressing further in the competition.

Yeah, if we were going to play poorly, miss chances/a penalty, and lose, then this one was the probably the time to do it.

What ever happened to Success breeds success?
We recovered from a poor start and looked awesome on Sunday, then this.

That's right, of course their is another possibility, was this an Unai Ruse, he does love to soft soap teams draw them in and hit them on the break, does he use the same thought pattern for a competition?, any deliberate banana skins in his tactics winning this cup 3 times with Seville and Villarreal.

Does Emery often lose 3 in a row? Tactical loss to ensure we take something from the next two.

The penalty miss summed us up. Should have taken our chances and if we do, the games won at half time.

This is it, are we, in all our innocence missing something here that is totally screaming at us.

I think we are in danger of being labelled bottle job fc. Favourites to win Conference league. Bottled it in the Semi against Olympiacos 6 fkn 2 on aggregate. Palace Semi final. No show. Man U where a point would secure CL football. Again no show. Every time we get a penalty we seem to bottle it. Two times tonight Pau needed to be brave when a cross came his way. Again bottled it. I'm very disappointed and tired after a long day. I might re-read this tomorrow and feel a bit silly about this post but right now I'm fucking pissed off with quite a few of our players.

Losing to poor sides leaves you with less room to mess up further. Look at how close the Bruges fuck up came to costing us. It also costs you a chunk of money, as pointed out also co-efficient points and we now go into the ManC game having lost to a crap side instead of having won 6 in a row.

Sancho did fine, I don’t know what anybody else saw but he looked the most likely to break the lines.  Our problem was that we weren’t clinical enough and conceded from straight lobs into our box.

I thought he was one of our better players too.

Yeah there’s no good from it. It’s rubbish, but it is what it is and we have to be so so much better on Sunday.

Same, tried to be positive and take his man on and make something happen.
