I actually think this result is worse than the brugge one in group phase last season. This team looked alot worse.

I know unai doesn't  want to destroy them publicly  which is probably  the best interests of all. But i bet behind the scenes he is absolutely  livid with that shite tonight.

Emery needs to look at himself after that. No plan B, just throw on the subs and hope for the best.

Thought he should have changed it earlier when it was 1-1.  We were going flat at that point and needed a lift, but instead got caught on a really poor way.

Should have crushed it 3 or 4 as they were utter wank.

They were so up for it that it was hilarious. Silly ****** po going about and only avoiding a right cross to be clobbered by the Dutch plod.
Translation?

If you watched the first 35 minutes of that you would have thought we were playing an amateur side. They were woeful - huge gaps we could play through from back to front. Final ball and finishing unbelievably wasteful.

Once again we become laboured in possession to the low block. We have to be more intense, move the ball quicker, get the ball into the box. Pass, pass, pass around the 18 yard box for most of the second half with so little purpose.

They’d struggle in League One. Absolute shit show of a performance.

This team, this squad - and I’m including Unai - has a mentality problem.
Whether it’s a massive, massive cup final or equivalent (olympiakos, palace, Utd), or what’s considered an ‘easy’,opponent, we show the wrong mentality.

We have it in us to completely bottle it, or act like swaggering prima donnas who believe they don’t need to put the effort it.

Unai has talked about our mentality since he got here.
He still can bloody well sort it though.

A brilliant impersonation of Blose, who the fuck thought that was a good idea for a Villa football kit?
Beaten by a pub team.
A few players need to look at themselves tonight.
Guessand would have looked out of place playing for them.

I honestly don't remember a game where our movement in the box, to attack crosses was as bad.  That said, our crossing was also really poor.

Right - I wouldn't bother moving for those crosses as none of them were making it anywhere near when they should have.  The one or two flukes that did - you are right, nobody on the end of them.  I remember one where Ollie could have stuck something out surely to get a touch but didn't bother and then same with Pau in the second half, I'll excuse him a little as he's a defender.
There were several crosses that fizzed across the face of goal that were crying out for someone to attack the ball. Off the top of my head I can think of two. One was in front of Ollie and the other just needed Pau to grow a pair and stick his head onto a cross but he bottled it and his head pulled away like a tortoise going into his shell. I'm fuming with him for that particular one. As for Ollie, for all his effort which is very valuable to us his main job should be to score goals but he's failing miserably so far. His big chance conversion rate must be absolutely shocking.

Mings is finished at this level.  He’s like a even slower traction engine.
I thought that tonight but it made me feel very sad.
He looks gone.

I thought Torres was in a great position for 2 chances, not 1.
What’s the point though of getting yourself up there for that absolute reason, and then not reacting to the chances you were hoping for and expecting ?

Agreed, there was a lot of good deliveries into their box. Buendia in first half from corners alone. Thought Mings should have done better from one late on too, might have been from Cash.

Worse result but better performance. I think we had two half chances in the first half in Brugge. Absolutely turgid plus Mings' brain fart. Tonight we peppered their box and should have scored a hatful.

The start was the worst thing that could have happened to us, it seemed to breed complacency. As our lack of intensity waned we invited them back into the game, played right into their hands.

Still, least we can get it back in the home leg.
