Maurice and Michael Woulfe
« on: October 05, 2025, 08:05:22 AM »
My dear friend of many years Maurice (Moz) Woulfe passed earlier this morning. We attended many games together in the mid to late 70s. Moz was the bass player of the Birmingham band The Nervous Kind back in the day. Support act to The Beat and UB40 on occasions. Moz left the UK in the mid 80s to teach English in Martinique and lastly in Montpellier France. He’d always manage a few games around Christmas time when he’d make return visits. I was all booked up to go see him next week. Moz will be sorely missed.

Sad about that Bren. I knew his brother, Austin, better than Moz but it feels like another bit of the old Erdington gone.

Yesterday we had the funeral service for Moz’s younger brother (58) who tragically died on New Year’s day from a heart attack. That’s two former close friends lost in the space of a few months which is devastating for the family and friends alike. Michael was a staunch Villa fan who worked in the Bolton area for the last 20 odd years. He was a very good teacher and respected by his colleagues and pupils and took every opportunity to preach about the Villa whether people liked it or not. He couldn’t get to many Villa games in the recent past so took up following Bury FC so he could watch some live football and support the down trodden. He’d never consider being a glory hunter so Bolton were out of the frame. RIP Mike, make them laugh as you can wherever you are.
