Mixed enough performance in truth, particularly in the first half. Bizot bailed us out with some excellent saves and the ref disallowed a perfect goal. We were much better in the second half, key was our midfield two taking control. Guessand was much narrower too and that helped our shape in and out of possession. Delighted for Buendia, that was a quality goal. Decent cameos off bench from Bogarde and Malen.

Bizot 8 - monumental improvement on Olsen. 3 or 4 excellent saves. Calm in possession too
Cash 6 - solid defensively but a bit meh on the ball
Konsa 7 - outstanding with the ball for a change but done in the air far too often like just after our second
Torres 7 - brilliant out ball for our second. Helps us break the press in a manner Mings can't. But partnership is very weak in the air.
Maatsen 6 - mixed enough, really poor defensively in first half but stretched them a few times in second including brilliant cutback for Guessand.
Kamara 8 - cruised a bit in first half but outstanding second including winning a great tackle before the first
McGinn 8 - same as Kamara really, fortunate goal maybe but his run was brilliant
Guessand 5 - first half was Weah's cousin level but I thought he was effective enough second half
Buendia 8 - not sure about that partnership on left defensively but Emi's touch was outstanding all night and brilliant goal
Rogers 6 - mixed sublime with ridiculous. Much better second half.
Watkins 7 - very good first half I thought but a bit meh second half.

Malen sharpest he has been in a while, Bogarde was decent. Our replacement full backs less so.

Great result, good performance.

I thought our tempo and build up play was so much better.   Some great performances - Pau, and the rest of the back 4 looked good, and offered a fair bit going forward.  Bizot was excellent, great to not see a lineup without Martinez and think "christ, well need to score at least 3"

Midfield 2 were excellent, as wasl ittle Emi - nice redemption arc going on there.  Watkins looked sharp, I think Rogers looked a bit sharper, albeit still woefully off form and Guessard looked laboured.  Bogarde and Malen both made good cameos.

Hopefully we'll beat Burnley - then onwards and upwards!

That's arguably our best result away from home since we've been back in European competition.  Still some frustrations with elements of the performance, but they can can wait for another time.

It was last ditch stuff at times, but Bizot, Konsa and Torres had really good games.  Kamara was good and McGinn was excellent again.

great result.

Pau, Konsa, Kamara , Maatsen, Emi little, Bizot  and SJM all excellent.

Lucky with the goal chalked off but they could have had 10 men , which probably wouldnt suit us.

Get Sancho, Youri , Barkley and the glass man back and we will look alright.

Guessand will come good ..

That’s our best performance of the season.

Agreed.

Keeper 8/10
Defence 8/10
Midfield 8/10
Attack: 5/10

MOTM: Maatsen. His best performance for us since signing.

I thought Maatsen was decent enough, surprised you saw him as MOTM though. But fair enough.

Maybe I'd never seen him play so well. It wasn't his usual attacking threat that impressed me, it was his defensive work.

Some very good performances in that game. Torres man of the match, Bizot commanding, Konsa excellent, Maatsen very good. Ollie played very well first half. Buendia another who really stood out. SJM and Kamara doing what SJM and Kamara do.

I thought Guessand was very decent second half after his very quiet firs

Great run by Malen for the second.

Not sure if I WANT Bogarde to be good or whether he actually is.  He seems to have the X factor which is not easy when you play DCM.

We looked a busy, enterprising side tonight.

Unlike the side trying to play at testimonial pace in the first 2-3 games of the season.

Indeed, I think he's gone low on Torres, Maatsen and Guessand (who was a 5 in the first half but was better 2nd) but the rest is pretty fair.

Before I forget, our fans were bloody brilliant. What was it, 2,500 hidden up in the skies? Most impressed and wished I was back there. Safe travel back. I trust you all enjoyed the game.
