He won’t make any changes at half time unless it’s to bring Elliott off again after 47.

Bizot is doing himself the world of good.
I have a feeling he will be our number 1 from here on in.

Guessand needs to do more defensively.

And all the other bits.

😄 Competition winner in all honesty. We settled a bit there last 5-10 mins. Out of possession we are a bit of rabble again. Not helped by Rogers giving away possession in dangerous areas constantly. That left flank of Maatsen/Buendia is too weak defensively, Maatsen needs a Ramsey like athlete in front of him.
Fortunate to be 0-0 after a very good start, that red card is given at Villa Park. Watkins has been sharp as has Torres. Kamara fine in possession but not providing much of a defensive screen in front of the centre backs. Buendia looks very sharp on the ball to be fair to him.

Guessand will come off anyway, might aswell give Elliot a go on right. Could try McGinn left and bring Bogarde into the middle. Buendia at 10 and Rogers hooked too.

I get the impression we are going to see a more focused Villa in the 2nd half, can't see how we will do another 45 like that, wouldn't take anybody off until the hour, unless Rogers starts to have some impact him and Guessand off.

Think Villa will win this...Just.
No need for Peter Withe's shin for a 1-0: John McGinn's backside will do just fine!

Incidentally I had no idea that Foggia are now playing serie C! Having been in Serie A in 1995.

Rogers has done a few brilliant turns but his passing has been comically bad again. It’s killing us.

Sampdoria down there, too.

Edit: no they're not.

I’d have liked a sending off and a pen but I can’t really fault this ref, good to see someone standing by decisions and taking them in a timely manner.

Guessand not been up to much and Cash makes me nervous but other than that I think we’re looking most likely to do something.

HT: I thought that's the best we've played this season, we looked pretty fluid and confident at times going forward. Buendia was involved in most of what we did well. Maatsen and Kamara looked good. Obviously Rogers still not quite at the races. We definitely weathered some of the storm there. We need our final balls to stick more. Really good game!

I wish I could enjoy games in this manner. The presence of those claret and blue shirts just turns me into a quivering, possibly paranoid mess.

Ha, I know what you mean. I find if Villa are showing nothing, or when I stupidly expected us to show up and we don't, I get stressed. When we're in the mix and showing something occasionally, it's easier for me.

We’d be losing if they went down to 10 men.

I thought they got a stay of execution

Such a shame the half time chat is having to lead with the referee's performance rather than the teams'. It's so frustrating

We're getting punished for going into a season without any width.

Or pace.

I think the issues you highlight are linked. Guessand has been really poor defensively and it’s left Cash exposed.
