Can someone explain the midfield and forward formation, in diagrammatic form would be ace.

Think it will be the usual formation with Buendia and Rogers starting on the left and in the number 10 positions (not sure which way round) and Guessand on the right.

Feels like a pretty big game today with Europe starting on Thursday and that now looking like our best chance of success this season.

Watkins and Rogers need big performances today. Those two in particular have been way below their normal levels for ages.

Buendia starting again… pffft.

That team will struggle to get the ball forward, but regardless of personnel it’s about intent and trying to play with purpose.

I can’t believe anyone really thinks we are not playing Elliot because of an appearance clause.

Yeah, his performance versus Brentford suggests he needs some time getting up to speed. Probably better suited to home games where we’d have more possession too.  Buendia’s extra energy might be considered necessary away from home.

Bench looks a lot stronger on paper, even if first X1 do not.

Strange set up. If we have another  laborious plod along question will be raised over SUE  I fear

Come on Villa, let’s get the season on track now, we’ve had months of doom and gloom and and now even the H&V site is slow and ponderous just like our attacking play.

£5m season long loan fee.
10 appearances and the compulsory option to buy is activated. We may be buying Elliott on Jan 1st (new UEFA calendar year) or season end, either way you're right that it's bollox we are not playing Elliot because of an appearance clause.

More reasons? No transfers until Jan 1st. It's kind of fucking obvious.

Guessand.

LOL.

To be fair he’s the only one that looks remotely fit enough to start

McGinn in the middle makes sense. I'd have Rogers in 10 and Guessand and Buendia either side.

Personally, I'd have them by the side of the pitch and not either side of Rogers but hey, I'd don't pick the team.

I'd have half this team out on their ear if we had reasonable alternatives

Emery talking about structure again.  Another defensive shape I fancy.
