Pinnochio's boast that he wants to win a trophy here coming good again.

Is there really any need for that if you are actually a Villa fan?

Well he very clearly is a SHA troll. Why is he allowed to carry on winding Villa fans up with impunity. Other wind up merchants from other clubs get banned.
Agreed

I agree too.

Thought it was a big improvement. We scored and created chances to add a second despite rustiness from Sancho/Elliot, and Guessand not quite being up to speed.

Rarely looked troubled at the back. Pleased to see Kamara getting on for some minutes.

Bizot never looked like getting anywhere near the penalties. Penalty from Cash was good save rather than poor miss.

Penalty shootout record vs teams not from London: played 6, won 6.

Penalty shootout record vs teams from London: played 4, lost 4*.

* one subsequently annulled.

I’m disappointed but not too down hearted. We now need to put everything into winning the Europa, that and the league are our priority.

No, actually I missed one. It's played seven, won seven against non-London opponents.

Won: Colchester (h), Tranmere (h), Inter (h), Bolton (Wembley), Sunderland (a), West Brom (a), Lille (a)

Lost: Wimbledon (a), West Ham (a) - annulled, Chelsea (a), Brentford (a).

Dicked by Brentford twice to start the season. Fuck sake. A side that put out its reserves tonight, that have lost pretty much all their best players and manager. Have a bloke you’d find working in Aldi as manager. Fucking miserable. The summer and start to this season literally could not have been much worse. In fact from the cup SF on has been a nightmare.

Better for me. Squeezed in a goal but apart from that, positives were Maatsen and Sancho on left.
Konsa and McGinn very good. Rogers showed a bit of quality too. Negatives, Malen and Guessand were appalling really. More worried about Malen, thought we should have moved him on in the summer. Ollie's cameo was brutal too.

Bizot 5 - not much to do but flapped at one cross
Cash 7 - solid game, some nice deliveries too and probably should have got the winner
Konsa 8 - classy performance really, took a few risks on the ball and a couple of solid blocks
Torres 7 - slow enough start but confidence with the ball definitely improved in second
Maatsen 7 - big improvement on our displays at left back so far, got stuck in and combined well with Sancho.
Bogarde 6 - tired in second half but solid in first. Happy enough with him.
McGinn 8 - very good throughout, turnover forced the goal
Guessand 3 - ball was not his friend, let's just hope some settling in nerves but very poor
Elliot 6 - some nice touches and movement at times, fortunate enough goal. Going to have to get fitter/stronger though
Sancho 7 - good debut. Probably should have scored that one but some promising signs with Maatsen on left. Touch is very sharp and that helps retain possession
Malen 2 - back to goal play appalling really, not sure what else to say.

Subs Ollie was a passenger, Rogers finally showed something with a few nice turns with the ball and a decent shot on target. Others were ok.

Emery 7 - solid team and shape. No issue with team selection or subs. Will be happy with the left side.

Just written a long, measured post that has disappeared among a flurry of weird adverts. Fuck it I’m off to bed.

@brontebilly, I agree with quite a lot, but I’d be much harsher on Maatsen and Sancho.

Malen was poor but was a welterweight competing against heavyweights for our long hoofed clearances. Guessand has shades of Zaniolo about him - skilful but struggling with physical side, and I have no idea of what type of player either of them are.

PS fans were excellent, non stop singing for first 20, then slowly had energy sucked out, reflecting the team. Still good vocal encouragement for the second half and stuck with the team

I honestly wouldn't play Cash again. He represents everything wrong with us. A timid, limited poser who would look more at home in the championship.

Yet he defended solidly yet again tonight, puts Guessand through for the one Sancho hit off the post. Comes closest to getting us the winner too.

Fuck I’m glum tonight. Contrast our disastrous start to the season, getting booted from the CC by Brentford to the CL kicking off tonight. That was us last year. All the glitz and glamour that we earned to now having to accept where we are.

Nothing wrong with Cash last night. He was solid enough and had an effort on target well saved. I would look at the bigger picture and have an observation of what was in front of him on the right.......zero support, no movement, nothing.
