A move to Galatasaray would probably see him not drop much below what he's taking home from his current deal. So if money is what he's after, I imagine that's where he ends up.

I doubt they could afford to pay him that kind of money unless Osimhen leaves. Surely they couldn't pay them both those kinds of sums?

Sane and Gundogan will be on very high wages too. They must be close to the line with regards to SCR I'd have thought.

The way the tax works in Turkey, basically to benfit football teams, is it's a really low rate so they can pay lower wages but the player pockets more.

The Turkish Government are getting even more far less* out of the arrangement than the Italian Government were.

*financially, anyway. The whole point of taking hardly anything in tax from foreign footballers is proper, old school Bread and Circuses stuff. That if everyone in Istanbul is really excited by watching Victor Osimhem and Marco Asensio every week then they're not rioting and trying to overthrow the corrupt government.

although he's improved lately, I sense another type Coutinho deal if we was to sign him.
We need to be getting more out of players who take home that sort of wage.

I don't know why Istanbul isn't the absolute number one priority for players in their late-20s/early-30s on a free. They love a corrupt semi-democracy, the wages work out pretty sweetly and it's one of the world's very best cities. These mugs are signing for the fucking Punxsutawney Bailiffs instead.

It's changed a lot in the last few years, and bit by bit, they are.

It used to be last big payday for Drogba, Sneijder et al. Top up your pension when you're 34 before retiring.

Icardi was the thing that changed it. He went on loan because he was forced out at Inter and everyone assumed it would be a year and he'd then move somewhere proper. Then he stayed. And that was the sign that it was fine for players who were 25 and playing for PSG and Man Utd to go there.

It's that safe middle ground for massive, big footballers who want the prestige of Europe and Champions League and a bit of spotlight, so don't want to go to Saudi Arabia, but also that's enough and they can't be arsed to put the effort in to force themselves into the Real Madrid starting eleven.

It's only going to get bigger from here.

Edit- and as SE says, unless you were one of the top five or six in the world in your position, why the hell wouldn't you take that choice rather than pissing about at a Dortmund or a Villa?

Im sure hes on 160k a week , I have no idea what Bailey is on but I would give Sancho , Baileys wages instead and get rid of Bailey.

He’s a smart player and his defensive game has improved vastly over the season (anyone else see him sprinting back into position in the first half on Sunday?).

There’s still the bottling tackles thing; but while annoying, it’s not a deal breaker for me personally.

The end product has been better of late but he still needs to improve further - goals and assists please.

Lastly, I’ve been impressed by how he has quietly and gradually won people over this year (take a look 30 or 40 pages back in this thread to see the difference). His profile is the perfect scapegoat (wastrel, overpaid, etc.), but his calm seriousness and talent has won plaudits.

I think he’s improved to a level where he’s justifying his place but not worth pursuing a permanent move.
