5 goals and 10 assists for Chelsea last season. We could do with some of that.

And they couldn’t wait to get rid of him.

I just don't see the point in mentioning McGinn at all. It's a bit weird.
Eye Digress said McGinn was poor last night in comparison to Sancho being poor last night. McGinn was really poor last night, its a completely fair comment. Its also really clear his comments were not trying to compare the two players overall ability, or commitment to the Villa cause, or career trajectory, it was about last night only, and any other take on it is taking those comments out of context.

My take is, cowardly, stealing a leaving etc etc are probably over reaching. I think the lad is trying but I just don’t think he’s that good.

I agree nothing wrong with the comment.mcginn didnt have his best game last night. Maybe fatigue?

Sancho on other  hand was poor yet again. He doesnt like a tackle does he? He has had one good game for us.

The record still remains 0 goals 0 assists. Even guessand has scored more and he is new to english football.

Rather have guessand at least  he works hard and does the defensive work - sancho does neither. Send him back end of season

There was a £25m obligation to buy but he wouldn’t take a pay cut.

Yes we could. I wonder why Chelsea didn’t buy him at the discounted rate ?

Let’s hope Unai wakes up and doesn’t play him again.

That rules us out then thankfully

As Percy says, they didn't want to pay him £250,000 per week on a permanent basis.

I only saw the first half but he wasn't that bad, not great but not terrible either. The story of his time here.

I saw a lot of him when he played in Germany and he was really good, like Jack was for us, a great dribbler who committed defenders but also had a wonderful weight of pass on killer balls in the final third. The pace seems to have completely gone, if thats mental or physical, who knows?

I don't think UE will be too displeased with him, he seems to retain the ball pretty well and understands, follows tactical instructions. But he's not the player he was, and the player we need. I cant see us shelling out on the kind of contract he's going to expect based on what we've seen, we dont need to spend that kind of money for the attributes he now seems to have.

And, his 'cameo' when he came on against Wolves will live in my memory as one of the worst performances I have ever seen. So at least that will be memorable.

Surely that’s the going rate for someone who contributes so much ?
If the basket case that is Chelsea don’t think he’s worth it, then things must be bad.

He was reluctant to take a pay cut.

Compare and contrast with a couple of our players who did precisely that in order to get extended deals with the club.

Sancho is a mercenary, living off past glories (if they can be called that) of a standout season in German football.

They don’t usually pay those kind of wages though. Only Reece James is on that much. They’re not going to put him on double what Cole Palmer gets.

Chelsea don't pay (comparatively) big salaries. Garnacho, who they signed instead is supposedly being paid a third of what Sancho is earning.

Of course he is reluctant to take a pay cut. He has a contract that will pay him about £10m over the next year, there is no reason to wave goodbye to half of it.

Our players clearly had the choice of extending their deal for a reduced wage (so more money and stability, but paid over a longer time period), Sancho can take his current income and then probably get a salary in line with what Chelsea were offering him a year later as well.

Yes, he’s the outlier from their old ways.
