Are people seriously comparing McGinn to Sancho !!

Fucking hell, I have heard it all now. I think some people need to stick to playing FiFA.

They were equally poor tonight, I felt.

You felt otherwise, I take it?

I just don't see the point in mentioning McGinn at all. It's a bit weird.

I thought he started ok then got worse and worse as it progressed. Rightly hooked.

I don't see the problem with what you have said. I don't agree with it but mentioning another player who you think was poor doesn't seem that wild to me. 'I thought so and so were shit but so was so and so', not unusual. Hopefully we never sign someone called So.

Me neither. I think people are overreacting a touch.

SJM had an off night, as did one or two others. Sancho has  been shite since day one and has a couldn't care less attitude whilst bottling every challenge that comes his way. He will be shipped back to Man Utd without delay come summer and good riddance.

Given yet another opportunity and floats around like an empty crisp packet.
I have seen enough.

Very poor and looks as though he has no interest in being a footballer

Yep. Sancho has done pretty much nothing all season. He’s reasonably tidy technically but has no fight and doesn’t influence games.

Eye Digress said McGinn was poor last night in comparison to Sancho being poor last night. McGinn was really poor last night, its a completely fair comment. Its also really clear his comments were not trying to compare the two players overall ability, or commitment to the Villa cause, or career trajectory, it was about last night only, and any other take on it is taking those comments out of context.

My take is, cowardly, stealing a leaving etc etc are probably over reaching. I think the lad is trying but I just don’t think he’s that good.

I thought he played well in the first half against Arsenal covering Bogarde and in the second half of a home game when he and Maatsen were on the pitch. Other than that, he's not done much but I've never been a big fan of his anyway.

Yea good first half against Arsenal like you say, good last 30 mins against Chelsea, a decent cameo against Arsenal at home. I think the problem for him is he’s not particularly quick and also isn’t very physically strong, so hasn’t got that to compensate for his lack of speed. A few tidy touches aren’t really going to make up for those missing attributes. In that regards I think the cowardly comments etc are wide of the mark, but I also think he’s probably no better than Philogene, who is a really good top end championship player, but no where near a top end premier league winger.

This is the problem.
People seem to have ridiculously low expectations of what is ‘good’ or ‘decent’.

A decent 30 mins here, a decent 10 minutes there ?
He a professional footballer for fucks sake who has been in the game for years, not some youngster starting out.

He is supposedly a wide/flair player.
So I don’t expect to see him flying into crunching tackles, but taking defenders on, running at defences, having guile and skill to create chances for his team mates or himself, that’s what we would expect to to see.
He does none of it.
He ponces through his time on the pitch, taking no responsibility and producing very little quality.

When Rashford came in last January, he was a broken man. It was widely accepted he was finished in the game.
Within a few short weeks, massively down to Unai, but also because of his own character, he was contributing hugely to the team and was a driving force for the second half of the season.

Compare to Sancho who has had 4 or 5 months at the club and has contributed fuck all.

He is a wastrel who has managed to steal a living. I’ll give him credit for that.
