My worry is that while we've seen multiple players 'come good' under Emery (Onana, Maatsen, being recent examples), we don't have the time with loan players to get to the payoff for the time put into them.

If there is a 'rehabilitation' for Sancho working under Emery, we may never see it - or his next club might enjoy it.

I think some of this is really harsh, he's not done enough for us yet and I doubt we'll have any interest in offering him a long term deal but his record in Germany is excellent and he isn't the first player who has struggled with the step up from that level to the intensity of the premier league.
He’s played almost 100 premier league games, hardly a newbie.

Yeah, if he can't cope with the intensity of the league by this point then it's hard to see that he ever will. I think some of the criticism has been harsh but I also absolutely wouldn't sign him.

Agreed skipper.  He’s ok, but we can do better.

I never said he was a newbie or that he was going to turn it around, I was just pointing out that some of the posts recently seem to forget his goals and assists record in Germany which was incredible.

I doubt anyone has forgotten, just that it's irrelevant to what he's doing 5 years later with us.

On that basis we should sign Dele Alli because he was good several years ago.

To be honest, I think it’s precisely because people remember that he gets such a hard time. He was great for them so expectations are rightly higher. He just hasn’t done anything in England to be honest. Whether that be because United is a basket case or because he can’t cope with the physicality or some other reason I’m not sure. Having seen him duck out of several tackles though I’m beginning to think it’s primarily that in conjunction with a broader loss of confidence.

A few players have struggled when they've initially come in to the side.  I could see one scenario where he kicks on in the second half of the season, we sign him on a free, and we end up having the best midfielder in Europe despite buying the lot for a bit of used chewing gum and a creaed Ian Snodin panini sticker.

Could also see another where we let him go, he leaves Man Utd on a free, then ends up kicking around lower mid table Premier League clubs and/or the Bundesliga for the remainder of his career.

No idea which way it's going to go, though.

I wouldn’t sign him, but I don’t think he’s been as hopeless as the stats suggest.

I’m happy to bring him on if we have a 2 goal lead because he keeps the opposition on the back foot.
What about when we're drawing against top oppo and need some impetus (Arsenal, home); when we're a goal down away to top oppo and need to turn things around (Chelsea); or when we're a goal up to top oppo and need to hold on (City)?

Ok, the last example doesn't work due to that shirked tackle!

But he contributed strongly in the others, didn't he?

We've been on a terrific run during which Sancho has been a top ranking sub - have we achieved all that despite him?

Putting aside the £200k/week, which we all feel is too much.

Sancho being held to the same standard as an academy player here, like Bogarde. Not a 25 cap international getting 200k per week. Bogarde offers a hell of a lot more off the bench too. Sancho and Guessand are shite.

I still don’t know what he has done or achieved in the game that warrants his reputation, albeit a diminished one now, and his salary.
I know he was decent in Germany when he was a kid, a had one or two standout years. But the German league is nowhere near the standard of the PL.
I’ve never seen him have a truly great game or even put in a MOTM performance for any team he has represented, including England.

I think he is the very definition of a player (reputation wise) being all fart and no shit.

As underwhelming as Guessand has undoubtedly been, if you saw the two new West Ham players last night (combined cost of something like £50m)....levels of shiteness.

Sancho has been underwhelming too, but expectation was probably a bit higher. He's done OK.
