I don’t think Sancho is shit. However, after his first few games my son who is a fairly astute judge of a player, said he thought he was just an average premier league player. I think this probably pretty accurate. He’s ok and will do a job to an extent, but he’s nowhere near the standard of Rashford and won’t in my opinion push us on to the next level.

Based on what we've seen - most notably at the Arse -he's not a player who can be relied upon to do the right things right.

It’s really difficult to get behind a player that shows such cowardice.

While he did cough-up possession for Arsenal's second,  so did Digne for the third. One of our main ploys is to evade an opponent nicking the ball off us when they've committed and then we quickly break. Arsenal were wise to it in the second half and snapped at us. We missed the physicality of Onana, maybe even Barkley.

The new scapegoat - now that Cash can no longer be used (and to a lesser degree, Watkins, Buendia, etc)

I think you are confused about the meaning of the word scapegoat.

Maybe, but as long as I've been paying attention to this forum (Julian Joachim era*), there's always been someone who is 'not good enough, needs replacing'. Often several. It seems we cannot avoid the need to have a player to blame for perceived (or collective, tbh) failings.

*Oh boy, just had a trip down memory lane - and his list of clubs after leaving Villa is epic.

I’m confused. What ‘failings’ has Sancho been responsible for ?

I think you need to look up the definition of scapegoat.

In the great scheme of things he’s barely had a sniff at playing, it’s hard to criticise him as we haven’t really seen enough. It’s not like we’ve been failing and stumbling through the fixtures. He’s not been quite ready to start, as is pretty much the same with most Emery signings, unless they are really exceptional, ie: Rogers, Rashford and Asensio.

I will say he’s looked pretty good in the last couple of weeks when we’ve needed him.

I don’t mind him. The willingness to go into tackles isn’t great at times, but I think he generally tries to create in an attacking sense, he doesn’t hide in that regard.

I don’t mind him - hasn’t done enough for me to think we should sign him - but I think he’s been good.

I don’t think Emery would want to keep him as he doesn’t offer enough defensively - but he has been and will be a useful part of the squad this season.

I’d put him in the ‘needs a goal’ camp.  I was hoping he’d be Rashford esque but he’s nowhere near as good unfortunately.  On Rashford, Man Utd keep on loaning their best player out is mind boggling ineptitude.
