That's why they tried to nick Martinez. I still think his head isn't right thats the second time he's pulled out just before kick off. Is he trying to force the issue by pissing off Unai?

What was the first time?

I mean yeah, maybe Martinez is being intentionally disruptive and pulled out of the game really late to piss Emery off or maybe he had a bit of discomfort during the warm-up, spoke the medical team and they recommended keeping him out. Up to you which you choose to believe I guess.

I assume the Palace game where the precise timeline isn't clear on who decided he shouldn't be playing and when.

Although it obviously wasn't quite so up-to-the-minute as yesterday.

He also pulled out of the man united away game last season just before half time.

The way Bizot was talking about Emi, it’s sounds likes a brilliant pro and nothing but supportive. My reckoning is he was injured in the warm up.

Wasn't it an issue with his calf?

That’s what was reported. Not anything to do with him being disruptive which I find very hard to believe.

He's been carrying a knock for a while I think.

Much to like about Bizot, and he played very well last night as well as giving a cracking post-match interview.

Emi is still our main man though. And not sure I'd see Bizot as a number one for us.

It is really nice not to find yourself going "Oh shit" when news arrives that Emi isn't playing.

I don't think he's at Emi's level (not many are), but the drop-off between them is nowhere near the level it has been between Emi and his understudy over the last few years.

A good bit of recruitment I think!

I think that's fair, he's not as good as Emi but he is good enough to be a regular premier league goalkeeper, which makes him an incredibly good option for us.

He was obviously excellent last night, but what I also noticed was just how confident the defence seemed with him and how they all seemed to communicate well with one another.  Dare I say it, they all seemed a bit happier with him than they have with Emi for a while.

There's always an issue with Paul Calf, he's been a wrong 'un since the 80s.
