When you see the stick Bogarde's getting, who's now one of the more experienced young players, you can see why Emery's reluctant to throw some of the other players in.

Yep people ask why premier league clubs don't trust young players more bu then slag off young players who are breaking through for not being as good as £50m internationals, this is a big part of how we got here.

Reading U18s 2 Aston Villa U18s 7 (seven).

Two each for Markie Meade, Jahmi Kellyman and Jack McGrath, the other for Joshua Blake.

I have seen something about FIFA are suggesting that each team sheet should have a home grown youth player in it. Not sure of the actual details but it said 4 teams in Premier League would fail, one of them being Villa.

What does "home-grown" mean in this context. Bogarde might be Dutch but he has been with us since he was 16. And all that will happen is one of the kids will take up one of the subs bench slots anyway.

Would be very typical that they decide to introduce this rule just after we have had to sell Jacob Ramsey to fit in with one of their other stupid rules.

Why would we fail? We’ve got loads of home grown players. Just stick one in if that’s the rule. We might be weakened but we wouldn’t fail.

The rules suggest you would have to have one on the pitch at all times. You would clearly need at least three to make that viable due to injuries/suspensions/rest. We would fail, so would most teams. It would, of course, be yet another advantage for the likes of Arsenal who haven't had to sell loads of young players to avoid FFP penalties as the rules barely concern them. If Saka played for Villa, we would have had to have sold him by now, like we did Ramsey.

Again, I don’t know what you mean by fail. If that rule existed today we would recall some of our youngsters and then not fail.

We would fail compared to other teams that haven't had to sell their best home grown players. Our current batch of Prestony Albiony type loanees aren't as good as Saka or Foden.

Yeah I'm not so sure either. Bogarde is already around the squad, bringing Rowe, Young and JJA back (to join Burrowes and Hemmings as options as well) and having them around the squad as well would go a long way to sorting things out. Especially when a rule like that wouldn't be announced to start this summer, you'd get plenty of warning which would be time to focus on getting a few youngsters up and into the fringes of the squad.

It would be bad news for players like Bailey and Barkley though who would likely see their place on the bench lost.

The link doesn't say they'd be on the bench. You would have to have one home grown player on the pitch at all times.

I know, but that would necessitate having 1 starter and then a couple of options to change things up, which would mean the squad filler players who aren't trusted to start games would all be moved out and replaced with kids. Then you rotate 1 into the team from the group but without adding the pressure of them needing to perform.

I can’t see it happening. It doesn’t serve anyone or make FIFA richer.

Have Jimoh-Aloba and Young done much since they vanished after their European cameos?
