Salisbury said the handball was accidental. I thought it was an established rule that it is not permitted to score from a handball, accidental or not? If that is the case then Salisbury should be heavily sanctioned for either being corrupt or grossly incompetent.

It's if it's the goalscorer, and ref knew that so could ignore it and allow the goal, the cheating bastard.

The actual goal scorer couldn't, so if Mbuemo had scored it would have been overruled. But they removed the accidental handball in the build up to a goal a couple of years ago.

TBH, I can see why they called it accidental, however 90% of handballs are accidental so almost all handballs shouldn't be given as penalties under those rules used today. Should still have been overturned as the amount of control because of it directly led to the goal.

It was foul play in the build up. Only one correct decision and there was no need for Ref to be sent to the screen.

I'm confused. So it was correct that it wasn't a handball as per the refs initial verdict then and he shouldn't have been sent to the screen to review it?

VAR normally make decision on foul play/handball etc during build up and instruct on field Ref to change the decision.

Only when it is a definitive, for example if the goal scorer has handled it before the goal. For subjective ones like this, the ref has to make the final call if the VAR believes the initial decision was an error, which it was.

I think my mrs must be chopping some onions somewhere in the house.

Quote
There was a lovely moment before the game started as fans from both Everton and Sunderland teamed up to remember Bradley Lowery, who died aged six in July 2017.

Sunderland fan Bradley touched the lives of football supporters across the country a few years ago.

He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma - a rare type of cancer - when he was 18 months old. Bradley went on to be Sunderland's club's mascot and became friends with his hero, striker Jermain Defoe.

On what would have been Bradley's 15th birthday, a large banner was unveiled behind one of the goals, with fans from both sides helping move the banner into place, with it getting a huge round of applause, along with a loud 'One Bradley Lowery' chant.

That chant was then heard again in the 15th minute, along with a standing ovation as his picture was displayed on the two large screens at either end of the stadium.

Does anyone understand handball these days? Seems to me that can unilaterally decide anything. No way Mbueno accidentally controlled that ball directly to his feet and set up a goal. Can someone give an explanation referencing the laws?

Does anyone watch these bang average looking movies and TV shows Sky and TNT keep plugging during matches? They look about as interesting as newly painted Magnolia wall.

For a team with supposed Europe ambitions, Brentford look like they've given up.
