Can’t help thinking of Aston Villa getting relegated 20th and last in 2016. It was building for a few years before that, they finished 17th, 15th, 15th and 16th in the four preceding seasons. Relegation saw Villa reset and come back strong, albeit it took them 3 seasons to get promoted.

Reading that thread, this guy knows. Crack on, Tottenham. See you back near the top of the Prem in 5-10 years...maybe.

Just noticed that Celta Vigo were 3 nil up at home to Alaves but eventually lost 3-4.

There's no joy in being shit in second tier with Bruce as manaher and facing being wound up. It's only because of who bought us that we look at it as a good reset, we were heading to oblivion.

True, but it worked out alright in the end. Would NSWE have spotted the same bargain? They bought a distressed asset which couldn't pay the taxman. Might not have been interested at how many times that rate?

It was shit, but we needed to go down and we needed to lose to Fulham too.

Would have been a perfect weekend if Maguire's day hadn’t been ruined on Friday.

Quite unusual at this stage of a season for everyone, apart from the bottom 2, to still have something to play for in the league. Palace maybe the least of anyone but a good or bad run keeps them honest for a bit.

In excellent news Villa's win means that we have retained the Midlands crown.

Arsenal have sewn up the Southern title without even playing, with Chelsea losing.

Is it ok to take the black armband off now?

'Midlands crown' 😅 nice one!

4th successive title and 56th overall. Wolves second best, with 18.

Is this West Mids only?

No Midlands. West Brom 3rd, then Derby.

Clubs that have finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Midlands each season.

Coventry have never been the top side in the Midlands.

With the 16 day break are the non-internationals in the squad being sent off to a training camp - not that there are too many of them - Tammy, Digne, Mings, Bogarde, Watkins, Barkley....

Yes, someone mentioned a Spanish training camp and closed door friendly against Elche in another thread.
