Tottenham pen.

Scored. Would rather they hadn't got any confidence from this match tbh but so long as they go out, that's the main thing.

They normally are away from home in the knockout stages.

Tottenham win but, even then, they lose.

In fairness to those wankers but a draw at Anfield and a win vs Atletico is pretty good given the utter shit run they were on.

Hopefully it is just the Spurs players being Spurs players and raising their game for "big" matches and then screwing the pooch in normal ones.

Believe it or not, it’s the most competitive of the five leagues considered the best in the world. I think the problem is, look how Arsenal have learned to play to win the PL, because it’s such a fucking grind. Then they’ll come up against a team who strolls their own league playing nothing teams every week, and (hopefully) they’ll get smashed.

At least this evening has ended the Spurs 'win European Cup and get relegated?' nonsense hereabouts.

Just have to settle for relegation then.

Not everything needs to be overanalysed or be a sign of a wider trend.

The side 16th in the Premier League were knocked out by the side 3rd in La Liga. The side 9th in the Premier League were knocked out by the team 1st in La Liga. The team in 2nd in the Premier League were knocked out by the side 2nd in La Liga. The team 6th in the Premier League were knocked out by the team 1st in Ligue 1, and the current holders.

Apart from Man City / Real Madrid (which was probably a coin toss as to which would be expected to go through), the story isn't really anything more that the heavy favourite at the start of every tie won their tie, including the two in which the English teams progressed.
