They couldn’t could they?

Couldn't what? They're still blose and they'll be playing them twice next season.
Wolves actually have a very winnable run in based on their last 2 games.

They do, but they have 8 games left.  Even if they suddenly develop "European challenger" form of 2 points a game, it still only gets them to 32 points, which to stay up would mean at least one of Leeds, Forest and Spurs basically not winning another game all season and losing almost all of them.

Much as I'd like to see Spurs go down, there is no way they're not winning another game this season.  Any of those three gets two wins, and they're basically no longer catchable (without Wolves turning into Man City)

I would also suggest that in neither game did Wolves look like winning at all until they did. That definitely looks unsustainable and Luiz glancing his header Friday or Gakpo leaving the ball last night and Wolves would have been 1-0 down and proibably heading for 1 point maximum from the match.

Saka scores with a weak shot through Verbruggan. 10 seconds earlier Arse won possesion with a handball which I suspect VAR decided was too far behind to need a review (Players arm was in a very un-natural position and without it Brighton might have been on the attack).
