Mourinho "we can't be racist, we had a black player 60 years ago"

Quote
In addition to expressing his belief that Vinicius had been disrespectful with his goal celebration, he pointed to the club's legendary striker Eusebio as proof that Benfica is not a racist club.

Asked if he felt Vinicius incited the crowd, Mourinho said: "Yes. I believe so. It should be the crazy moment of the game, an amazing goal.

"Unfortunately [he was] not just happy to score that astonishing goal. When you score a goal like that, you celebrate in a respectful way."

He added: "I told [Vinicius], when you score a goal like that you just celebrate and walk back. When he was arguing about racism, I told him the biggest person in the history of this club [Eusebio] was black.

"This club, the last thing that it is, is racist. If in his mind there was something in relation to that, this is Benfica.

"[Vinicius and Prestianni] told me different things. But I don't believe in one or another. I want to be an independent."

You can be Black, so long as you don't answer back. I'm not sure the massive whitesplaining of racism helps Mourinho's cause, either.

Sadly this is also bad for us, as makes Real Madrid less likely to appoint him as manager, and therefore more likely to appoint Unai.

I don't think there's any chance Real would appoint him again. His career is going backwards these days.

It would be very odd, but he was one of the main candidates being mentioned.

That’s a penalty. His hand/arm stopped the ball going towards the goal. A penalty all day.

Think I’d be checking the betting markets on this game, Qarabag centre backs look like they’ve never kicked a ball before

This game makes a farce of the CL format.

Qarabag are worse than Wolves. Macclesfield would offer better opposition.

They won away in Benfica earlier in the tournament. Just like Real Madrid.

Pérez still loves him, that's all that matters.

I was wondering how on earth Granny Gordon had scored 4 first half goals.

I don’t get why Newcastle are still in search of more goals. They’re risking injury to their players when the tie is done and dusted.

Don't think TNT will have too many viewers watching the 2nd leg!
