I'm not sure but I think Mo Salah has scored.

He kicked the attackers foot away without getting any connection on the ball. Its a penalty and it would have been 40 years ago as well.
I appreciate that it is a penalty today, but it wouldn’t have been 40-years ago. The kick didn’t make him fall over. He wasn’t in control of the ball, he felt the kick and he took the opportunity to throw himself to the ground.

It was a pen all day long.
Yes, under current rules of course it is. My point is that it shouldn’t be. I don’t think that making marginal contact with a player who is facing away from goal and who isn’t in control of the ball, should result in an 85% chance of a goal. It’s just not commensurate. Two teams have played for 90 minutes and the game has been decided by that.

I agree Sam. The players are now coached to exaggerate any contact in the area. The issue is I think we are so far passed what was acceptable 30 years ago it is almost impossible to go back.

Nial Quinn was surprisgly adept at making it look like he'd had his legs scythed from minimal contact.

Is it extra time and penalties for Arsenal and Palace tonight?

Straight penalties if it finishes a draw I believe.

Yep, extra time only in the semis and final. Straight to pens all the previous rounds.

Senegal playing Botswana now. We need Senegal to make at least the last sixteen, and maybe the quarter-final, to ensure that Villa-hating bastard Sarr can't play against us.

All good so far. 3-0, 96 minutes gone.

I think second place in the group is best for us as their next round match wouldn't be until the day before Villa, then. If they get through the second round he would definitely miss us. Senegal have some good players, fancied them as a dark horse for the World Cup but they have a horrible group, as often seems to happen to the most talented African team.
