If we go full on, we can beat any team. But this is not sustainable over a PL season.

Unai thought:, concede possession, and hit them on the break.

Didn't work that time. So it goes.

The title is wide open this year.

Is it silly to think we could win it? I don’t think it is, we’d need Ollie to find his shooting boots and go on a hot streak but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
Agree. A window like last January would see us as very strong contenders for sure.

This is wonderful

https://x.com/knaggsy097/status/1992371788710609391?s=46

AI can be so good

No it can't.

It can, just not for this. For example right now we're finalising an AI which looks at test results for a class of students and uses the data to build lesson plans for the teacher and suggests individual revision plans for the students, including links to online resources and specific chapters/pages in their books.

The pilot version has been used in 6 countries and from the feedback has saved teachers 3-4 hours a week and seen a 6% improvement in results.

AI made properly is fantastic, AI slop that's free to use and public isn't even meant to be good, it's just for data gathering.

Ha, I wasn't meaning in medical research or teaching (though I've got scepticism there too, perhaps a bit beyond the scope of this thread). And I wouldn't say 'fantastic'. Like, man. I really wouldn't (but anyway!).

But yes, anyway, can we at the very least label it if we're sharing some godawful clanker slop? And definitely stop with the ChatGPT summaries of Athletic articles etc.

6months ago I'd have agreed with you but working with proper tools designed for a specific purpose has made me realise that the slop on the internet is really harming the perception of a tool that can have a huge impact. And by that I mean now, not in some unspecified time in the future.

Something I noted - Bologna are now unbeaten in eleven matches since we beat them in September. Smashed Keinan Davis's Udinese yesterday.

A bit like the Sunderland game, looks (even) better in hindsight than it felt at the time.

I suppose I would say that I object to calling a whole load of things that used to have other names (deepfake, big data, even NPCs in games) by the term 'AI', as the term itself is basically a) taxonomically meaningless in the same way that there's no such thing as a fish, and b) buying into the sci-fi-derived flimflam that vapourware oligarchs are using to keep their wealth bubble swelling. And I think you'd agree with this, so really that's a lot of irrelevant paragraph for the Other Football thread!

On Bologna - they have a pretty specific way of playing, and if you deny them their outballs they can struggle. Fortunately for them, not many teams in Serie A are good enough to do that; fortunately for us, we are.
