Hopefully McGinn will be sober enough to play this weekend

It will be the highlight of his career to play for Scotland in the Workd Cup - hope that he does not get any injury between now and next summer and that he has a good World Cup
My son said both of these things!

Chuffed for Scotland. They are a poor team with a big heart with only McTommany, our own SJM who’s cleverness got their man sent off and Tierney offering any real quality.
I’m pleased for super John Mcginn but they are a bit rubbish. First shot on 4 minutes (great goal), next shot about 70 minutes later. Rode their luck bit like the home game against Greece.

What a weird take on a great match.

Not really as the comment from SJM right above yours also agreed.

The commentary for the 4th goal was unbelievable...grown men squealing wildly..

I wonder if Callum McGregor will be thinking about coming out of retirement now.

Don't worry, pulled muscles in his back from lifting too many trophies in May won't keep him away from joining up with Scotland.

If New Caledonia make it, Scotland will become the first country to have qualified twice for a World Cup since Korea in 2010. Ireland is still in with a chance of doing so as well.

I'm coming round to the idea that the injury time clincher, that is the goal to give you a two goal cushion, is the "best" goal in football. All the pent up tension panicking about holding onto the lead and  then you make it safe.

Yeah. Bailey in the 101st minute against Palace a couple of years back is a classic of the genre.

Nah, that makes it boring and makes everyone relax. The best one is surely the late winner, that rekindles the hope?

I dunno, I think I agree with MV. That outpouring of pure, unadulterated euphoria surely cannot be matched. Only football can do that. And smack, possibly, but others will be better placed to judge.

I have thought before that one of the cruel quirks of football is that you often can't even enjoy the enjoyable bits, because of the stress that it will all go wrong. MV is quite correct, pure joy of knowing you've won is great.
