I've also read two seperate pieces in the Guardian by David Hynter and Jacob Steinberg in the last two days wher they state that John Stones is a nailed on starter and Guehi and Konsa are fighting for the spot next to him.

Have I missed something here, when was this decided?

Nothing in stone (no pun intended), Tuchel might have commented off the record or they just want that to happen. Not really that much to do last night (well towards the end) but Stones did show he could play left side if needed to support Konsa.

I agree with him, Foden especially I suspect would struggle for most sides because he's been moulded into a player who fits perfectly for how Man City use him but who goes missing too often when things aren't working or he's playing for someone else.

Bellingham is very good but not as good as he's made out to be and I think all the praise has got to his ego too much, England have been a better team since he stopped being a regular starter.

Moving on, I thought O'Reilly looked a much better choice at LB than Lewis-Skelley and hopefully he can claim the spot.

They were desperate for Foden to do well and ended up praising him for the most minor of things and ignoring anything he did that wasn't great.

It's weird because he gets all this despite having never really played well in 45 attempts, he makes Barnes look like he had a successful England career.

How many games for England has he gone without a goal now?  Same old story with England - always trying to shoehorn underperforming 'star' players into the side at the expense of having a side that actually works well together.  The midfield and attacking unit of Rice, Anderson, Sarah, Rogers, Gordon and Kane has worked well.in the qualifiers and started to gel.

Think that’s a bit harsh in this current team as Tuchel has generally picked players on form. I think it was the game in Serbia where there was no dominant domestic team providing all the players for the national team, it was a real mix, which I thought was refreshing.

Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden are two of the worlds most overrated players.  I honestly wouldn't want either of them at Villa.

Wow! I’d swap Rogers for Bellingham in a heartbeat. Foden for any of our forwards. They’re both brilliant players, two of the best in the world, we have zero chance of getting either any time soon.

At the moment it looks pretty likely that no Liverpool or Man Utd player will be in the England squad for the World Cup. Can't imagine there have been many England World Cup squads where that has been the case.

Or many England squads at all over the last seventy years or so.

I’d agree that Bellingham appears to think he’s the Big I Am but frankly he’s been a standout player for Real Madrid and has come up with the goods to get England out of the crap on a few occasions so I can see why he’d think that. It’s easy to dislike him because he’s a nose but in my mind he’s still a great player, whether the team performs better without him is another matter but taking my claret and blue specs off he’s done more for England than Rogers.

If Rogers plays all the games at the World Cup (tournament football) then that wound probably be a fairer time to judge them evenly.

I think many of us will be shouting thank fuck. Two clubs players whose overblown sense of their own self importance overshadows any benefit to the national team.

ITV seemed to have a real bias towards Foden last night. The amount they talked him up after the game really stood out.
