Whatever you think of the England team/squad this is far superior football than anything Southgate served up.

Ah 2-0 win against Serbia in a qualifier is better than a 2-0 win against Germany in a knockout game or a 4-0 twatting of Ukraine in a quarter-final?

Erm, no.

Southgate is Gerrard, Tuchel is Emery.

Not really. It's pretty much the same so far. Which is fine.

Hopefully it stops being the same some time around mid-July

Not really?  The football is much, much better to watch. Southgate’s teams were dull in comparison.

You’d have a point if England had played Germany under Tuchel but as he’s only had 8 games it was unlikely he was going to. The opposition in this group wasn’t the best but for England to not concede a goal throughout the group is very good. England are for me currently the best in Europe.

You mustn't have watched Ireland tonight.

Great performance by Ireland, well deserved win.

Best result in a very long time.

The Ireland match was edge of the seat stuff but fabulously entertaining.

They will go some to match that endeavour on Sunday but while you're still in it, you're still in it.

I watched where Villa players are playing. Konsa was very good. Rogers was okay.

I’ll make a point of watching Hungary V Ireland, big game, should be a good game.

Takes it to the last game...after the loss to Armenia you wouldn't have predicted that. A long time since we beat a top seed at home.

Best result in a very long time.

Probably the best since 10 years ago when Shane Long pounced on a long ball from defence to beat Neuer in a 1-0 win over Germany. Durán must have been taking notes for his goal against Bayern...

Southgate is Gerrard, Tuchel is Emery.

Not sure that tracks with Southgate being England's second best manager in history.

My point was relating to "anything Southgate served up" as per your post that I quoted.

If you only really wanted to discuss qualifiers then I'd say a 3-1 win against Italy, 7-0 against North Macedonia, 2-1 against Italy away, 5-0 against Albania, 4-0 in Hungary, 7-0 against Montenegro, 6-0 win in Bulgaria, 4-0 against Bulgaria again, 5-1 in Montenegro, 5-0 against Czechia and a 3-0 win against Scotland were all pretty solid efforts.

Fair play, Tuchel has started well, but I'm not sure why people can't enjoy that without feeling the urge to denigrate the achievements of, comfortably, their greatest manager in the last half-century.

Italy need an 88th minute goal to (probably) squeeze past bottom-of-the-group, -22 goal difference Moldova.

A 17 goal swing seems unlikely so looks like Norway are through. Italy don't do world cups of course.

Tuchel has the team playing differently, I enjoy watching them now as opposed to being bored shitless by them previously. I’m not an England fan, I’m a fan of England if there are Villa players playing for them. I will want them to succeed in the finals. That could all changed if Konsa gets dropped or Rogers loses out to Bellingham which is extremely likely. As for Southgate, his treatment of Grealish (when a Villa player) was diabolical. For that reason, along with the dull football he can fuck off.

I'm not convinced. His record against countries in the top 10 is appalling. I think we got as far as we have done in recent competitions despite him rather than because of him. I don't know if he's taking a sabbatical from football voluntarily or not but there's hardly a queue of top clubs trying to sign him up. Surely the second best manager in England's history should be taking his pick from the top jobs. Time will be the judge I guess.
