Obviously, Man City are evil, but it is quite funny that Liverpool spent all that money to go so decisively backwards.

Brilliant Haaland scores.

The guy could score in a nunnery.

Must be on track for the worst title defence since Blackburn.

Chelsea were worse, finished 10th, Blackburn were 7th. Leicester worst of all in PL era, 12th. Season before the PL Leeds managed 17th.

Slot acted like a kid in a sweet shop but never actually addressed the biggest problem of Salah being 33 years old and clearly on his way down from the very high level he'd bene setting for a few years. I think people have massively underestimated how much they were still Klopps team last season. This Slot team they've become has a much softer belly to it, just frustrating that we couldn't take advantage like everyone else has recently.

We got it tactically wrong last week vs Liverpool. The Emi disaster made things a lot worse. They were there for the taking.

Man City (1937-38) remain the benchmark.

I thought Blackburn did far worse than that for some reason. Completely forgot about Leicester, too.

Maybe their abject European showing played a part in your thinking?

I don’t think they were, as they showed against Madrid. We played well for 30 mins, but they were solid enough. It’s very different when they’re at home.
