Finished 3-3
Beat Eswatini (bottom without a win) on Monday though and Cape Verde are there.
Just heard a really good interview on 5 Live with Roberto Lopez, full back who plays for Shamrock Rovers and also Cape Verde. He explained what it means to play for a country of half a million people and how they came across him ( he received a call up in Portuguese and dismissed it as spam). If they qualify they’ll be the smallest team ever to do so.
Second smallest I believe, after Iceland in 2018.
But it's absolutely the reason why the tedious bit of international football ("oh no, England only won 2-0 against Armenia and it wasn't the most exciting game I've ever watched, scrap the lot of it") is still worth it.
Cape Verde having their moment and going to the World Cup (Eswatini notwithstanding) is more important in the grand scheme of things than...pretty much all of it.
