Norway eleven.

Nine scored by players born in England.

I think the "Champions League style" set up VILLA MOLE suggested would give those teams a mixture of games against teams at their own level while still offering them the chance to play the bigger teams (and, crucially, still get money from hosting said opponents).

The money thing is important, but I think the objection to doing that sort of format is that the matches you'd play aren't then massively different to tournament qualification.

There's already plenty of opportunity to play eight-to-ten matches where you're divided into a group ranked by rough ability from best to worst, so why do the same thing again.

Has Pickford ever let England down in tournament football? Tends to lose the head a bit and whack the ball down the pitch. But he's done well really considering the pressure on him and decent on penos.

Not at all. Reckon you could probably make a good argument for him being England's overall second most consistent player after Kane if you look at the time since he made his debut.

But if England have a squad that is one of the best five or six in the world (personally I wouldn't put them above either Spain or France and then I'd change my mind on any given day on what order to put Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and England in), is Pickford one of the five or six best keepers in the world? No, so he's bringing that "quality average" down rather than up.

You'd be playing different opponents rather than the same team home and away, so that provides more variety.

Top teams can aim to qualify for the Nations League Finals, expand the playoffs for World Cup Qualifying so even mid-ranking teams have a chance of having something to play for in the final games, so you don't get many dead rubbers.

At the moment there are too many meaningless games at the end of qualifying. There were very few at the end of the Champions League Group Stage last season.

Glentoran 1-0 up against Linfield. It's on BBC2 NI.

Sheffield Utd stats are atrocious. Only one goal scored in 4.5 league games, no shots on target away from home in the league in 2.5 matches. And only 1 shot on target in 3.5 away games.

Linfield equalise, also a penalty. Definite foul, might have started just outside the penalty area.

Philogene with 2 for Ipswich.

He appears to be wearing an undershirt with long sleeves and connected mittens.

Barry and O'Hare are playing for the benighted blades.

Jaden’s a streaky player, he will have a good run now. Hope he wins them over, I don’t think he’s been a popular signing.

Sheffield United have their first away game shot on target. Ipswich go up the other end and score. Ipswich are in line for their first home league win in 2025 (the calendar year).

Pleased for Philogene,  always rated him but you have to take into account the Sheff U defence,  they’re a complete shambles.
