We’ve undoubtedly looked rubbish so far and Newcastle have looked better than us, even if just looking at coherence and energy. I don’t think it’s time to panic but there have been some worrying signs.

We’ll certainly struggle if we end up not adding quality by the time the window closes.

Did you notice that Newcastle lost last night but moved up a place in the table? I think I preferred it when tables weren't shown until 4 games had been played, so those sort of quirks had ironed themselves out.

Decent chance we are in the relegation zone before we kick off on Sunday. To avoid it we need at least three of the following to happen:

Man U lose vs Burnley (Sat, 3pm)
Wolves fail to win vs Everton (Sat, 3pm)
Newcastle lose at Leeds (Sat, 5.30pm)
Brighton lose vs Man City (Sun, 2pm)
West Ham fail to win at Forest (Sun, 2pm)

I know all football is meaningless if you think about it but being in the relegation zone after two matches is completely, utterly and irrefutably meaningless.

Psychologically, I would still rather not be in the relegation zone when we kick off.

With Palace down there and only having 2 points, it's the first 'six-pointer' of the season.

Second after Newcastle.

Yep. I can't help but feel that the pressure of starting the day only separated by alphabetical order affected both teams.

I hope Slot's comments can break the injunction a little bit on Newcastle's 'style' of (for want of a better word) 'play'. They're just Stoke with fewer excuses.

Jacob got a 5.95 rating on the BBC

Those ratings are a bunch of shit and vary wildly according to whether the team has won, drawn or.lost, regardless of the actual quality of individual performance

Pretty sure that they started the match ahead of us on points then went below on alphabetical order, then on GD, then back above us on GS, then on points, finally remaining ahead on GS. But as theirs was the only game yesterday and they finished it on the same points but worse GD, there is no way they could have gone up vs before k.o

I like the early tables because they produce little quirks like Sunderland leading, giving that little thrill of incongruity that is lost as the table sorts itself out later on (2015-16 excepted)

You say that but have we not played like a relegation team?

Already breaking into cold sweats about passing the rags on the stairs...

Can anything be done about the one on what great fans they've got, and what a cauldron of noise St James Park is, and (cont P94)
